About Me

Hi ! I'm Manon, nice to meet you ! I’m currently travelling around Asia ( since November 2022 ) and for the moment in Japan 🇯🇵 !

My hometown is near Strasbourg, France, where I was working as a piano restorer in a beautiful workshop. Besides my job, I work as an independant illustrator and book binder since obtaining my degree in Applied Arts ! I am very creative, sensitive and funny ( I hope T-T). I am a big fan of every style of music and play fluently piano, guitar and bass. I spend a lot of my free time in the nature, crafting or reading some books and I like to share my impressions with others book lovers !

Globally, I like to learn every day from other persons and despite my shiness, I always enjoy to meet new people and share things with them, from cooking to their culture, passing to a whole lot of things.

We all have a heart and that is our first common point ! Maybe we can find some others together ?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So, I'm here on Couchsurfing to meet people during my travel. When I was young, going on a trip with my parents and my brother, was always our pretext to meet locals and learn their life habits. What's the point of travelling if it is to stay in a "Inclusive-luxury-hotel" ? I will never understand. The most beautiful part of a trip is to meet some future good friends !

Music, Movies, and Books

Ah, if I had to list all of my favorite pieces of music, It would take an eternity since I have a lot of favorites...
But I can say that, I like Chopin for his subtlety in his sonatas, Depeche Mode for their vibe ( Shake the Disease is so great ), Queen for their magical energy, Michael Jackson because... Everything ? BTS for their love and kindness ( I purple all of them, and all of you ARMY ), Twenty One Pilot because, hey they are in another world, Kaleo for being such a great rock group in our era... I could continue like that for a while.

Talking about books, it goes from Baudelaire, Jean-Racine, Dumas, Shakespeare and George Orwell to Stephen King, Tolkien, Erin Hunter, Wajdi Mouawad and Wattpad great authors. I definitively have a crush on "Les fleurs du Mal", book that follow me everywhere I go.

And movies hmhm, Lord Of Ring, The Hobbit, Pacific Rim, Pretty Woman, The Mask and a lot, lot of others that I only know the French name, sorry. But, SF, Romance, Drama or Heroic Fantasy, everything is good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So an adventure... In 2019, I went on a trip with my family in Sri Lanka for the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents. We were with a guide and a driver for two weeks and I can say today that they are still very good friends of the family. Without being awared, they prepared us an anniversary dinner and offered a cake to my parents, singing a French love song and, yes we all cried a lot. And that is when we really became friends. They introduced us to their family and in ten seconds, we were part of it.

No lie, it is the most beautiful human experience I took part in my life and Sri Lanka keeps a part of me for ever.

And fun fact, our guide came in France one month later for work and we took him with us during one week to show him Alsace, as he showed us his island. A real fairy tale that just encourage me to meet other future friends.

Note : I went back in Sri Lanka in March 2023 and spent 2months with my guide and his family again !

Teach, Learn, Share

I am really curious to learn basically everything that I don't know yet so, yeah I am an eternal learner. Sharing my skills is also something that I love.

I don't know if I am as great as teacher as student but, if you are intersted on drawing, playing music and doing cool stuff with your hands, I would be honored to share what I know with you. And I am always excited to improve myself if you know something better !

So, no limits !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am curious of discovering life habits, hobbies, skills, culture, food, and impressions of locals. You will never find me on huge mall, crowded beach and tourist trap restaurant ( I hope, even if it happens sometimes by mistake... nobody's perfect ).

Perhaps I can say that, I am in a sort of existencial crisis and I am searching for a place where I will enjoy myself and find myself in the local lifestyle ! Jokes, tips, philosophy, I like to question myself about a lot of things and also try to understand the view of other persons. I'm open-minded and very curious, life is only beggining for me and I have a lot to learn from others.
