About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I have always loved travel and now I love the opportunity to expose my family to the different cultures around the world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a kinesthetic junky, my bachelor's degree is in dance and I am a certified Alexander Technique teacher. I love choreographing, and I have also taught movement in a variety of forms. My children are multi-lingual, and love to travel to new places. I am deeply interested in world mythology, religions and cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

The more you learn the more you realize you know nothing. Knowledge is like medicine or science, you hold something as the god's truth and make all your decisions based on it - then sometime later you find out that the leeches don't actually cure you! All you can do is subscribe to the most reasonable theory until another, better theory of the truth comes along. That's why it's important to keep you heart and mind open, so you don't miss the new truths the universe throws your way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I took a month-long road trip across the western u.s. staying with friends, family, acquaintances, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends. I had an amazing experience... most places I stayed for a night or two and one for around four. Throughout I was blessed with a series of enchanting, enriching intellectual one(or more)-night stands from a most unlikely cast of characters. Every place we stayed I felt like I had made real connections that opened me up to a different part of myself or humanity. It was satisfying to keep leaving on a high note and I came to accept that on my horizon there were only more interesting perspectives and opportunities to expand myself and my understanding in entirely different directions.

Interests

I sew, read, draw, renovate, choreograph, I love to cook and play with different artistic mediums, I'm interested in philosophy (though I'm not studied in it), spirituality (though I don't subscribe to organized religion), I love travel and have a strong appreciation of literature and art.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: I love basically any old (black and white) movies regardless of subject, i like foreign films of all sorts from all places, action flicks, old musicals, martial arts movies, comic book movies, Bollywood, avant garde films, some cartoons/kids movies, and (depending on the topic) documentaries, I never really got the chick-flick bug but I do have an uncanny ability to appreciate really awful movies for how terrible they are if they are bad enough

music: blues, jazz, punk, rock, classical, world music, old hip hop, fun, soul

books: I used to read a never-ending list of literature and fiction, but then I had two small children and there was no time for reading for pleasure. As they have gotten bigger I have found more opportunities to read again, with a stong focus on world mythology anf folktales.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the aquarium in Perth, Australia I went snorkelling with giant manta rays, sea turtles, and sharks.
