About Me

Hi, I'm Leene and I'm a wannabe badass.

I'm a communication manager, a PhD student, a single mom for two, a volunteer activist and a huge fan of hiking.

When I'm bored I watch Last Week Tonight.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to live in a picturesque countryside village in a natural park in Estonia and I had the most splendid surfers one can imagine.

Then I had kids, moved to Tartu (which is another part of Estonia) and couldn't deal with couchsurfing for years.

Now I moved to Porto and want to spend some time in this couchsurfing venue again.

I've got an instagram profile that gives a fast overview of the daily stuff in my life. It's instagram.com/leenekrop

Music, Movies, and Books

Last weeks, I've been listening to Tommy Guerrero, Amanda Palmer, Nicolas Jaar, Arcade Fire, Benjamin Clementine, Puuluup (check it out, it's a cool Estonian band!) and NPR Tiny Desk Concerts.

A music style I've listened too much: street jazz (my best wishes to Smoking Time Jazz Club!)
A composer who changed the way I think: Arvo Pärt
A song that made me learn a language: "Águas de março" by Elis Regina and Tom Jobim
And I have a soft spot for cello music.

Books: my favourite book is "The Suitcase" by Sergei Dovlatov.

Films: I'm currently in love with "The Shoplifters" (Manbiki Kazoku) by Hirokazu Koreeda.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've travelled around the Balkan countries alone with my two young kids for two long weeks!
