About Me
Hello there!
I'm Manuel the German.
For people having problems pronouncing that, I have been called "Man-Wheel" or "Man" before, which you can feel free to do as well. My friends usually call me "Manu".
I've developed a mild addiction to travelling roughly three years ago, and have been quite active in this regard ever since.
I'm currently on a gap year in lovely Leipzig, exploring all the things that I find interesting and writing about them.
Besides that I'm very involved in different music projects (funk, jazz, electro and metal). If you like music, I think it's very likely that I'll like you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like beautiful and interesting things, places and people, and travelling (and sharing your own couch) seems like the perfect way to find all of these things at once.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Jazz, Funk, Progressive Rock, Classical, Electro, Techno, Indie, Metal, Hip-Hop, Dub.
I play and produce a lot myself and listen to it constantly.
Music is a never ending source of amazement for me and if you are passionate about music we will have a long conversation.
Books: a wide range of things from the classics of Hesse, Frisch, Mann, Musil, Goethe, Huxley, Eliot, Dostojewski, Verlaine etc. up to Fantasy Novels where the main character is an orc.
A lot of science based literature as well, much into the direction of neuroscience and behavioural psychology lately. Philosophy has always been a great passion: it's crazy how nature do all of that, and I can't stop wondering how it does.
Films: Beautiful slow things like Tarkovsky or Ozu, weird stuff like David Lynch, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, and of course my all time favourite Lord of the Rings
Series: Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty, Arrested Developement
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a Vipassana silent retreat in New Zealand.
It's still weird to think that I had some of the most intense experiences of your life by simply doing nothing but sitting and breathing for ten days straight.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love talking to people about things I'm fascinated by: be it music, poetry, physics, math, philosophy, psychology, psychedelics, meditation, history...
There's always something that I'm really invested in at any given point in time and I enjoy talking about it immensely.
At the same time, every person has things they are passionate about, and I'd be happy to share in that as well.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
