I'm new at CS since I've normally stayed at hostels during my trips. However, I found more interesting the kind of interaction that arises from meeting people by staying at their own places.

Hotels are boring, expensive and don't necessarily offer you the opportunity to spend time with either locals or residents, which I think is one of the best ways to get to know a place.
