Ahoi ... we are Maria and Ide :)

We come from Thuringia, the green heart of Germany, and soon realised that we love travelling. So we are now living our dream and find us on a 2-year trip around the world. We both love sport - hiking, cycling, exercise is always good - as well as music and dancing. We enjoy learning new things, getting to know people and their culture and exchanging ideas. Laughter and humour are our dearest friends. We like being part of a community, getting involved and learning from others.

When travelling, we go with the flow and enjoy getting to know the country and its people. That's why we don't travel by car, but by bus and train, and want to use this platform to not only find a place to stay, but above all to get to know people and thus also their culture and the area. We started in Germany, saw Switzerland and Austria, a little of Slovakia and Hungary. We would like to travel further east until it becomes west again :) We are looking forward to visit Georgia, Mongolia, Tibet, Nepal and South-East Asia ... and much more :)

We are both uncomplicated and are happy to get involved. We have a sleeping bag, sleeping mat and a towel with us. A dry corner is enough for us to sleep. We speak German, English and French and have bought a small language computer. Let's see what it can do. We also find other ways to communicate - we're good at drawing or mime, for example :D

Ahoi ... wir sind Maria and Ide :)

Wir kommen aus Thüringen, dem grünen Herzen Deutschlands und haben schon bald festgestellt, dass wir gern reisen. So erfüllen wir uns nun unseren Traum und begeben uns auf eine 2-jährige Weltreise. Wir sind beide sportbegeistert - wandern, Rad fahren, Bewegung ist immer gut - und lieben die Musik und das Tanzen. Wir lernen gern dazu, lernen neue Menschen und Kulturen kennen, tauschen uns aus. Das Lachen und der Humor ist unser liebster Freund. Wir mögen es, Teil einer Gemeinschaft zu sein, uns einzubringen und von anderen zu lernen.

Auf der Reise lassen wir uns treiben und freuen uns, besonders Land und Leute kennenzulernen. Deshalb haben wir kein Auto dabei, sondern fahren mit Bus und Bahn, und wollen diese Plattform nutzen: um nicht nur eine Bleibe zu finden, sondern vor allem Menschen kennenzulernen und damit auch die Kultur und die Gegend. Wir sind in Deutschland gestartet, haben die Schweiz und Österreich gesehen, ein wenig von der Slowakei und Ungarn. Wir wollen gern weiter in den Osten, bis er wieder Westen wird :) Spannend finden wir Georgien, die Mongolei, Tibet, Nepal und Südostasien ... und vieles mehr :)

Wir sind beide unkompliziert und freuen uns, wenn wir uns mit einbringen können. Schlafsack, Isomatte und Handtuch haben wir dabei und uns genügt eine trockene Ecke zum schlafen. Wir sprechen Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch und haben uns einen kleinen Sprachcomputer zugelegt. Mal schauen, was der alles kann. Ansonsten finden wir auch andere Wege zum Austausch - wir können z.B. auch gut zeichnen oder Pantomime :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to get to know a country and its culture by meeting its people and experiencing its everyday life. Monuments and museums don't tell our language - we don't understand as deep as if we meet locals and their stories. Every person we meet gives us a vivid inside. Live is so divers and colorful, full of surprises and secrets, stories that have been never told. This is what we want to discover.
