About Me

****NO ESTOY EN ARGENTINA****

****GUESTS: I AM NOT IN ARGENTINA AT THE MOMENT****

Hi! This is Manuel, 36 yo from Argentina. I started my long-term backpacking adventure when I was 29 and my first stop was Australia. Seven years later I'm still wandering around the world.

I got a degree as a civil engineer and right after that, I got retired 🤣. So I decided that it was a good time to travel and get to know another places and cultures.

I love music, I play piano and guitar.

I also love cooking and I try to learn at least one dish from each country I visit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used couchsurfing in Southeast Asia for the first time and it was definitely something that it changed my view about travelling and I will never forget. So many places and people that came across unexpectedly, giving without any interest, helping without expecting anything in return, being happy with less. It is definitely the best way to get to know a place, to know their people, their cultures, their meals and their real lifestyles.
Besides, I like the idea that other people can also learn something from me, about the place where I come from and to make my trip a cultural exchange with others (win-win).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like everything about art, especially making music. I play piano, guitar, charango (South American instrument), percussion, I try to make sound out of everything, although that is not so nice for people who are surround me!!
Haha
Leaving aside all the books I had to study at university (algebra, mathematical analysis, physics, structural calculations, etc, etc, etc), I like blowing mind books and documentaries.
But my memory is not my greatest strength:

- Open Veins of Latin America, Eduardo Galeano.
- Other authors: Fontanarrosa, George Orwell, Dan Brown.
- Into the wild (Amazing soundtrack!)

Sitcoms:

- The Office
- Seinfeld
- Friends

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Hitchhiking in Patagonia at the age of 14.
- Eating scorpion in Bangkok
- Swimming with sharks in Australia
- Climbing the non-touristic part of Chinese Great Wall
- Being invited to a Muslim wedding in Penang, Malaysia.
