About Me

likes the smell of mud and of the salty ocean. keeps plant seeds in the pockets, hoping to find the right place and time to sprout a beanstalk.

The land of vampires, fruit spirits and polenta is where my roots are. I have a penchant for hiking, climbing, cycling and studying humans in all possible ways, especially culturally. Currently I am a student of archaeology at Durham, UK and would like to see a little bit more beyond the cold and cloudy North-East. I love telling people about archaeological projects and research if they ask me. It's a discipline that teaches you so much about rituals, lifestyles, languages, architectures of the past and how they relate to the present.

any place with jazz or folk will make me happy, or exploring the city together for decrepit places or to discover a lead for a lost holy grail.

volunteering is also something I like when travelling for travelling’s sake becomes boring: to engage with a community and try to help is something I wish I did more often. Back in Durham we have FoodCycle, where we help the homeless while trying to reduce food waste.

I also like board games like Catan and Diplomacy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

eager to hear all sorts of stories, am trying to learn new languages and immerse in new cultures and urban and rural fabrics. And I hope to meet people that would come visit me in Durham or elsewhere so I can show them around! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

+managed to brush my teeth with my left hand!
+a small project with friends involving a formerly abandoned house in Bucharest that was revitalised and reopened to the public to explore its stories, go to concerts, plays and workshops
+also that half marathon I ran in high school? my body still hates me for that

Teach, Learn, Share

Fibonacci stuff, mathemagical theoremas à la Gardner, curious historical recipes, can make you a cool unpredictable portrait on my camera. Otherwise, if there is paper at hand, we can do origami. And if you need an introduction to Romanian or German, I'll gladly help

What I Can Share with Hosts

In exchange, I can tell fairytales from around the world.

Also, I am known to improvise dishes with whatever is at hand (student life is hard!) and I usually bring some ingredients and spices with me. One thing I always enjoy is cooking for friends and sharing food. I think of it as a rather sacred thing, so mealtime means putting all distractions aside and focusing on what is before me: the food, family and friends that I’m grateful for.

Lately I've been paying attention to mental health and psychology and have been improving as a listener and try to figure myself out and help others too. I'm getting to know Gestalt and Transactional.

Otherwise we can ramble on about life, films and books, botanics and history. And I love all kinds of music and enjoy discovering new bands outside my aesthetic and recommending my favourites
