About Me

CURRENT MISSION

sharing my passion of backpacking with others

ABOUT ME

Like meeting new people and exploring new places. Have a passion for new food (veggie please) & interested in “alternative” medicine, especially massage.

I have traveled the world and studied as well as practiced Japanese Shiatsu, Thai massage, Sports Therapy, Aromatherapy as well as Foot Reflexology etc.

Currently practice in the centre of Cardiff.

Enjoy hitch-hiking, where possible, as well as volunteering on organic farms with the WWOOF community. Firmly believe that true backpacking is not about destinations, but about the manner you get there and the people you meet along the way...

PHILOSOPHY

To keep my eyes and heart open to all and avoid pre-conceptions and prejudice. To tread lightly around the globe while still leave an impression on people's hearts

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hitch-hiking through Russia, Australia, New Zealand and California I got to stay over with many of the people that gave me a lift. Six months of travel through the former USSR where at least 70% of the time I stayed over with the people I shared the train or boat cabin with. And the good people of Cape Town to, of course…

Interests

shoestring backpacking, veggie organic food, Shiatsu and Thai massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Swedish Msssage, yoga and herbalism as well as football. Yes, I am gay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Arriving to Vladivostock; Kashgar; Bukhara; Adelaide and Tromso after very long journeys. Experiencing my first Hong Kong Typhoon; Asian pre-monsoon lightning show; the Northern Lights at Lofoten Islands and the amazing phosphorous sea display. Seeing the Hong Kong skyline; the Great Wall and the Grand Place (Brussels) for the first time. Spending the day at the shores of lakes Baykal; Tilicho and Ama Dablam - the latter just after finding out that Arsenal have just won the Double. Waking up to the sight of Mt Ararat; Table Mountain and Mt Rinjani. Making the trip along the Rio San Juan from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Holding a piece of Noah`s Ark and surviving Pakistan; Azerbaijan and Zambia. Bidding my farewells to the guards at the Siberian check-post after spending a week in their custody, for the second time; Seeing a Golden Eagle in flight at the Thorungla Pass near Mt Annapurna, meeting my first giraffe up close near Bloemfontein and trying to persuade that wonderfully curious Kiwi bird on the Milford Trail that if it didn't get the hell off the trail it will become another sad statistic; Swimming in mid-October in warm Arctic waters off the Lofoton islands, freezing my balls off in Lake Baykal in August and floating bizarrely in the Dead Sea; Discovering how small and insignificant the Manniken Pis, the Little Mermaid and … Singapore are. Being dwarfed by the magnitude of the Great Wall, Ayre’s Rock, the King’s Canyon, hitch-hiking through the Gobi and some of those one sqm. bright red mushrooms in New Zealand; Eating the most delicious pizza ever in ... Kathmandu, the best fish and chips yet in ... Sihanoukville (Cambodia) and scrumptious … dog meat in the Philippines; Having a 20 year-old red in Cape Town, my first Orval at their gorgeous monastery and discovering the pleasures of ice-cold soya milk (mei sai nam tak, kaap!).

But all these pale into insignificance in comparison to meeting all those wonderful people along the way. It is all those nameless people who made all the difference

Teach, Learn, Share

Massage is a gift I am always happy to share with others as well as healthy and wholesome cooking. Would be glad to advise in terms of cheap travel tips to. Would like to learn more about Shiatsu as well as Feng Shui.
