About Me

Expat and solo traveller living and discovering Colombia since 2017. Manuel is a talkative, easy-going and quiet guy.

I am from an intermediate city 57 km away from the Colombian border. At the age of 17, I left my hometown to study in Mérida. In 2013 I got my first passport stamp at Dublin Airport and after seven months of living in the Irish capital I went back to my country. I finished the university, packed up and crossed the border to my mother's country. Bogotá is home now.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite genres are Italian pop, francoton, sertanejo, and some rap. I like music in foreign languages: Hungarian, Indonesian, Japanese and Chinese, but I also listen to music in Spanish.

Thrillers, historical and psychological films, also documentaries and science fiction titles. Films and TV series I recommend are: Kingdom of Heaven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Ring, Vikings, and The Queen's Gambit.

I enjoy short stories, Latin American literature, and historical and crime fiction novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am one of the South Americans who has visited the Guianas region: Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and the state of Amapá in Brazil. My biggest adventure so far thanks to Couchsurfing and its fantastic people!

Teach, Learn, Share

Definitely teaching or talking about languages is something I enjoy, not only linguistically but culturally. Feel free to ask for a Spanish class.

Since I love history, I can tell you a bit of the "Gran Colombia" in one of our walks or sharing the table.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A companion to go sightseeing, explore, meet and to take great photos. I will be glad to help in anything I can and to spend time together.

Un compañero para explorar la ciudad, platicar, ir a tomar algo y sacar buenas fotos. Será un gusto colaborar en lo que pueda y compartir tiempo juntos.

Countries I’ve Visited
