ABOUT ME
Not very good at filling in these things. Have lived on the Isle of Man all my life except for 3 years at university in England. This is the first year of my life I have ever really done any traveling and it has consequently been the best. I'm crap at planning things so tend to just let them work themselves out, an approach which has worked so far. I'm always up for having a laugh because if your not laughing your not living!
PHILOSOPHY
You only get one shot at life and it could be over tomorrow so enjoy it as much as you can and help those around you to do the same.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Alas not at all yet as I have just joined
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed on many couches over the last few months however they were outside the framework of CouchSurfing.com and were acquired the old fashioned way, begging, puppy dog eyes and the occasional tear (also just making use of the massive hearts and unbridled generosity of the people I have ran into)
Interests
I enjoy playing rugby and squash, riding my motorbike and going down the pub for a pint. Pretty simple really.
- dogs
- pub crawls
- traveling
- cars
- backpacking
- rugby
- racquetball
- emergency services
- hitchhiking
- squash
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam with a group of manitees that were floating in a canal behind a guys house who let me spend the night there. Totally unexpected but absolutely amasing experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hitchhiking is still possible in the modern world and has to be the cheapest way to travel I have ever found and also lets you meet an entire cross section of a country's people. The main things to remember are finding a good location where the cars can see you from a decent distance and are able to stop safely, look as un-shabby as possible, smile (but not in a creepy way), be polite but always claim ignorance with police and be patient. You may have to wait a long time but eventually some nice person will stop and help you out. Even if they take you only a couple of miles down the road every mile helps. You will get to see some places you would never have gone to normally. Having a couch to sleep on at the end of the day is always an added bonus
