CURRENT MISSION

We just came back to Argentina after one year and a half traveling all around Asia.

In this trip, I became more spiritual and more understanding of different religions and ways of living... And I learned a lot about myself.

Mariano and I have been traveling since 2016. We've been to South America, Europe and on May 2023 we started our trip through Asia. We've been nomads for this long (sometimes digital too). We're always interested in connecting deep with the places, culture and people.

ABOUT ME

I consider myself a citizen of the world, but especially a South American. I've lived all my life in Argentina, was born in Brazil and my granny is from Paraguay (one of the few countries in South America I still need to visit).

I like to learn from the environment in which I move. In these years of travel and life, I learned that life is too short to try to be someone else than myself, every day I'm working on avoiding expectations and accepting things as they are. I like to do meditation, walk in the mountains, be near nature, do things I've never done before and learn from them, have deep conversations about life with people I don't know, be near places, situations and people that might be extremely different from me but I can learn from those differences.

We don't like conquering the must-see places when we travel and follow the touristic path everyone does. Our success in travel is understand each culture well enough and mingle with the locals. We prefer going to places locals would go, discover new places in that way, and end up on a birthday or wedding rather than just visiting those really impressive places packed with tourists. That's also why we love hitchhiking, Couchsurfing and meeting locals randomly so much, because we end up knowing places we never expected to visit, meeting people we didn't expect to meet and always learning new ways of life, traditions and also in a way learning more about ourselves. Otherwise we just visit places but we don't go through a real inner transformation, adapting to new culture and rules is something magical.

Soy Mariel, viajé durante 7 años por el mundo junto a mi esposo Mariano.

MISIÓN ACTUAL

En septiembre de 2023 volvimos a Argentina después de un año y medio viajando por toda Asia. Este viaje fue el cierre de una vida nómada de 7 años.

En este viaje por Asia, me volví más espiritual y más comprensiva hacia diferentes religiones y formas de vida... Y aprendí mucho sobre mí misma.

Mariano y yo estuvimos viajando desde el 2016. Estuvimos en Sudamérica, Europa y en mayo de 2023 comenzamos nuestro viaje por Asia. Fuimos nómades durante mucho tiempo (a veces también digitales). Siempre estamos interesados en conectar profundamente con los lugares, la cultura y la gente.

SOBRE MÍ

Me considero una ciudadana del mundo, pero especialmente sudamericana. Viví toda mi vida en Argentina, nací en Brasil y mi abuela es de Paraguay (uno de los pocos países de Sudamérica que todavía me falta visitar).

Me gusta aprender del entorno en el que me muevo. En estos años de viajes y vida, aprendí que la vida es demasiado corta para tratar de ser otra persona que no sea yo misma, todos los días trabajo en evitar expectativas y aceptar las cosas como son. Me gusta meditar, caminar en las montañas, estar cerca de la naturaleza, hacer cosas que nunca hice antes y aprender de ellas, tener conversaciones profundas sobre la vida con personas que no conozco, estar cerca de lugares, situaciones y personas que pueden ser extremadamente diferentes de mí pero puedo aprender de esas diferencias.

No nos gusta conquistar los lugares que todo el mundo va a ver cuando viajamos y seguir el camino turístico que todos hacen. Nuestro éxito en los viajes es entender cada cultura lo suficiente y mezclarnos con los lugareños. Preferimos ir a lugares a los que irían los locales, descubrir nuevos lugares de esa manera, y terminar en un cumpleaños o boda en lugar de simplemente visitar esos lugares impresionantes llenos de turistas. Por eso también amamos tanto hacer dedo, Couchsurfing y conocer a los lugareños al azar, porque terminamos conociendo lugares que nunca esperábamos visitar, conociendo personas que no esperábamos conocer y siempre aprendiendo nuevas formas de vida, tradiciones y también, de alguna manera, aprendiendo más sobre nosotros mismos. De lo contrario, solo visitamos lugares pero no pasamos por una verdadera transformación interna, adaptarnos a una nueva cultura y reglas es algo mágico.

MISIÓN ACTUAL

Estamos poniendo en práctica todo lo que aprendimos después de 7 años de viajar por el mundo. Ahora estamos armando un hogar e intentando entender qué tipo de vida vamos a construir para nuestro futuro. Si tenés conocimientos de plantas, compost y manualidades, son bienvenidas.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a lot of people and surfed over 100 sofás. All good experiences!

I've been going to meetings very actively since 2011, and I've organised myself some our cities and also in some cities we've visited

I've shown my city to many people, hosted many as well and done individual language exchanges too. We're definitely willing to host to people who hosted us.

I also volunteered for an NGO that offers exchange programs for high school students who were having an experience in Argengina and helped many expats/travelers integrate in Argentina and get along with people and culture
