☀️Hello, we are Mara and Johannes, a couple from Germany and Austria and are currently traveling through Asia. We are both looking forward to meeting new people, sharing our cultures and also getting to know new cultures. On the profile picture you can see us together :) ☀️

Our philosophy is "your home is where your heart is." As long as we feel grounded in ourselves we can feel at home wherever we are :)

A few years ago I, Mara, fell in love with traveling. It was love at first sight and since then, I am in a constant state of wanderlust.
This is our first biiiig trip through Asia and we are curious to meet people from all over the world, hear their stories, learn about their culture and have a good time together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing gives people from all over the world, no matter what age, race, ethnicity etc. the chance to travel the world, to get to know a face-to-face-experience with locals of different cultures, to learn and to make friends. And this is what makes traveling a wonderful experience without being the typical tourist.

It is a chance to just go out and explore, dive right in, expand horizons and meet like-minded people.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music we listen to a lot of different genres. Mara likes Post-Rock, Indie, and many more :) I am always happy to get to know new artists and songs!
Johannes loves Metal, Pop, Rock - always open and eager to get to know more. As he plays piano and the drums himself, he is an avid music lover.

Some of our favourite movies are American History X, Inception (anything with Leonardo Di Caprio), The Big Lebowski, Southpaw and Into The Wild.

We also love to read books. Especially the ones that expand our minds, help us grow and keep us curious.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mara:
-being part of a huge international scout camp in Japan
- trekking to Macchu Picchu, Peru
- climbing my highest mountain Vinicunca (also called Cerro Colorado) at 5200m in Peru
- learning how to surf in Costa Rica

Johannes:
- awesome trip through Colombia
- organising a music festival in my hometown
- visiting various concerts and music festivals in Europe
- playing piano and drums with my band live on stage

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share parts of our cultures, stories from our lives, music (we can teach you how to play the easiest chords on guitar/ukulele/guitarlele/piano and melodica) and thoughts :) we can also cook Käsespätzle for you! Oh, and we can also share some ballroom dancing steps (Tango, Jive, Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha as well as Swing).
