About Me

I am a military brat who never got rid of the travel bug. I just finished law school at U-Penn and am a lawyer dedicated to the public interest, particularly issues of criminal justice and racial/economic equality. I am a yoga teacher and former gymnast and ballerina, but my proudest skill is making balloon animals. I am traveling with my partner, Derek, who is an Army vet who swapped military life to become a comic book illustrator, painter, and entrepreneur. He is going back to school at U-Penn in the Fall after our adventures. He can teach you many practical survival skills, as well as some retro breakdancing moves. He is passionate about helping those who are marginalized and creates businesses in the name of the public good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

About to travel the country for two months with my partner, Derek. After a difficult three years of caring for an ill family member and grieving the loss of a parent I am seeking an adventure of nature and travel to heal. I love meeting new people and exploring the local way of living. And I passionately believe that the way to bring peace to this chaotic world is by understanding how others live, where they come from, who they are. By meeting people who might not otherwise cross out paths we get closer to the next step in evolution: coexistence.

Music, Movies, and Books

I always have three books in rotation at once. Fiction to let my mind dream, non-fiction to stay engaged in the world, and a spiritual book to open my mind.

Right now:
Fiction: "My Brilliant Friend" by Elena Ferrante (highly recommend)
Non-fiction: "Capital" by Thomas Piketty
Spiritual: "The Book" by Alan Watts

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped off highest bungee in the world (outside Cape Town, South Africa)

Teach, Learn, Share
