Overview
About Me
Hey, my name is Mara, I'm 24 and I was born and raised in Berlin. Currently I live and study in Italy at the Univeristy of Bologna.
I studied civil engineering and now I'm in my 4th semester of a Master's degree in Historic Buildings Rehabilitation so architecture from centuries ago never fails to amaze me.
Furthermore, I'm the biggest fan of nature and mountains so in 9/10 cases I prefer getting up early and catching the sunrise from the top of a mountain over a crazy night out.
In the 1/10 cases you'll find me in a Salsa or Bachata Bar because latin dancing and dancing in general makes me incredibly happy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Living a year in Argentina in a host family taught me that nothing makes you adapt and experience a culture as much as living with locals does. Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to do that. Furthermore, I'm still on a student's budget so fancy hotels are usually not an option. ;)
Right now my biggest motivation is that I have to travel to Valencia and Formentera for a project and some research for my Master's Thesis, so I would be incredibly happy to find a lovely host to stay at for two weeks in May.
Interests
- yoga

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I really love 80's music, I enjoy Bachata even if the lyrics are often quite sexist, lately also into Italian rock & pop to learn the language
Movies: the last movie I saw that I really liked was "Hidden Figures"
Books: novels of Frank Schätzing are really thrilling, I do enjoy a good fantasy story as well, I genuinely enjoy books which are educating and entertaining at the same time - like a novel based on a true story or really adequately describing the time in history but not like in a text book but with a great story arch, love story or biography
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm deeply and madly in love with the time I'm spending here in Italy. Even though I'm German and I love Berlin very much, Italy is something like my "heart-country". Amazing food, very kind and warm people around, stunning landscapes from mountains to crystal-clear sea and there are definetly just two types of cities in Italy: those you haven't visited yet and those you want to visit again.
