Hello Couchsurfing world!
My name's Mara, I'm 28 years old and I'm currently living nearby Lisbon (on the other side of the bridge!).
I actually work in Lisbon since the end of November, after a year of voluntary service (or EVS) in Poland. Previously I also lived in Rome for University reasons, even if I actually come from a small city called Macerata (Marche, Italy), a beautiful and underrated city center famous for medieval history.
As you might understand, I really love traveling and mostly of all the "get out of my comfort zone" kind of experience, I really think that it is the best way to challenge yourself and to understand other cultures.

Since I was a child I always have been so fascinated by the world. Like, we live in a little corner, part of a bigger city, that it's like a dot in the world and in the universe. And I want to travel as much as I can, that's why in summer 2017 I did an amazing experience, traveling with a friend and a little suitcase in Northern Europe and we visited five different nations in three weeks. Also, for this experience, I did Couchsurfing for the first time. I met many, many people (and all the hosts were truly wonderful and so kind), I shared with them amazing experiences and memories. It made me realize how Couchsurfing is a lot about getting to know different cultures, even for the simplest things. It was an unique experience and I still cherish it.

It's a great way to get to know more people in the world and to have wonderful and meaningful conversations and new perspectives. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music: I'm an old soul inside, so I appreciate mostly the '80s / '90s music , especially rock music.
But, still, I listen a little bit of everything, I'd say that it depends from the period. ;D

- Movies: Call me by your name, The Devil Wears Prada, The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl, Star Wars Saga and many more.
Don't let me even start with tv series, let's say that it always will be something that we can discuss.

- Favorite novelists: Jane Austen, Victor Hugo, Italo Calvino, Muriel Barbery, William Shakespeare, Deborah Harkness, Emily Bronte, J.K. Rowling...
- Books: Harry Potter (saga), A Discovery of Witches (saga), Pride and prejudice, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Il barone rampante, L'eleganza del riccio, Notre-Dame de Paris, Wuthering Heights, Poldark (saga)...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I don't know if it counts, but hitchhiking every now and then has been a really incredible experience for me.

- EVS (European Voluntary Service) experience in Wroclaw, Poland.

- Traveling in summer 2017 for three weeks in five different nations in Northern Europe, just with a suitcase and via Flixbus, experiencing the proper traveler life with a friend. Also, during this little adventure, I experienced Couchsurfing for almost all the cities that I visited.
