Pablo and I have enjoyed hosting people while we were in college and helping them get to know Berkeley and the Bay Area. A lot of the people we've hosted were planning to come to UC Berkeley to study so we try to answer all their questions and give sound recommendations! We were also hosted by some really fantastic people during our travels in Europe.

I've / we've been hosted by wonderful people in Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Spain, France and here in California - thank you! - and I found great friends through CS when I lived in Switzerland for a year as an au pair. We've hosted people from Taiwan, Austria, Japan, Australia, Germany, and around the US.

I survived eating lutefisk while spending a month in Norway during my gap year - the rest of my gap year was spent as an au pair in Switzerland, which was also a challenge!

Realistically, not very much since I'm pretty busy. I could get you started with the basics of a genealogy project or recommend good bike routes in the area.
