About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Grow a bit more every single day, admire life for its beauty and let myself be surprised!

ABOUT ME

Hi there!
I'm María, an Argentinian/Italian, teacher of English and current Au Pair whose motto is CARPE DIEM! I try to live by those simple but strong words as much as I can for I find there are so many amazing things out there to discover and ejoy :)

PHILOSOPHY

I always bear in mind the words CARPE DIEM, I think they are so full of meaning and it's something we should always do, we should always live by these two words...though sometimes we might lose focus...
We should always, always try to be happy with what we have and with whom we're surrounded by, so have people around you who make you happy and enjoy life...

And SMILE, always find reasons to smile and make other people smile...A smile is so, so powerful and it can change your day and other people's day as well...It's free, it's simple but totally loaded with love and kindness...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined couchsurfing not so long ago thanks to my older brother who also lives in Europe and introduced me to this superb world! I had never heard of it and found the concept completely cool and so interactive, I had never thought it could be so much fun and you could meet so many people who are truly interested in showing you around their cities/towns...and exchange life experiences...I was marvelled!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experiences were in Switzerland with my older brother and though I was kind of 'scared' at the beginning for I didn't know what to expect, I felt so happy and excited after having lived them! We met 2 host surfers who were so nice and welcoming! We had a great time with them and I realised I wanted to have more experiences like those so I joined the couchsurfing community to be able to be a host when I went back to my country and to continue interacting with people who belong to this fantastically rocking community! Also, I had a great couchsurfing experience in Cardiff where Tom, our host, was more than welcoming and helped us immensely!!

Interests

So many things!
I love walking!! It's like therapy for me, nothing like your thoughts (or even better, blank mind!) and birds singing to be at peace and embrace simple beauty in life, either by the beach, or parks, any natural place :)
Dancing also brings a smile to my face, it's something that makes me absolutely happy, as simple as that, I let go and think about nothing but the music and just enjoying myself! I don't go to discos so much but dance in my room (yes! In my room!), I go to dancing classes. I'm planning on going to dancing events (like salsa, or jive, for example, I love to learn how to dance juve, or rock & roll, it sounds so exciting!!)
Reading is something that I enjoy greatly :) Getting lost in the pages of a good book is priceless!!
Of course, spending time with beloved ones is heart-warming and unique :) I've made special friends in Europe who I treasure and, of course, whenever I have the chance to go back to Argentina, I feel surrounded of love by my amazing family and friends there.
Travelling, how not to mention that??? I've been truly beaten by the travel bug and I'm proud of that! I love the book 'Oh the places you'll go' by Dr. Seuss, for it clearly defines how I feel when it comes to marvelling at things I discover when travelling and this infinite desire of exploring...There are so many fantastic and breath-taking places out there to explore!
Cooking!! Oh cooking! I absolutely love cooking and pampering myself and the people I love with food, enjoying great ingredients, and transmitting love through it. One of the things I love about travelling is trying different recipes and discovering new flavours! So much inspiration!

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE watching movies, any kind as long as they're NOT horror ones! (I simply can't watch them!) What could be better than snuggling down on cold days with a warm drink in hand and enjoying a good movie? and if outside it's raining, perfect day!
Books-wise, I truly love reading as well :) I find great pleasure in doing so and I just love it when a book is so good I can't put it down! (trust me, it has happened to me several times and it's one of the best feelings!)

Shaking my skeleton or just losing myself listening to music? Of course! Love that too!! Anything except heavy metal! (nothing against it but I just don't enjoy it.) I really enjoy listening to different bands/singers: from England I love Bastille, Keane and Coldplay for example (just to name some) but I really listen to anything, depending on my mood, I believe music is amazing and can transport us so far away, or invite us to dance away fears, stress...just have a good time!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Glacier in the south of my country, it's called Glaciar Pertio Moreno, simply, breath-taking! The lakes as well in the south of Argentina; Interlaken in Switzerland, WOW!! Picture perfect! The Parthenon in Greece, unbelievable!! It would be an endless list, every place I have visited or lived in has beauty and each place has uniquely amazed me and made me smile :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I might be able to transmit positive energy...I consider myself to be a positive person who tries to always look on the bright side of life for it is beautiful and a gift! Always smile, why waste time -which is precious- on things that make us sad or which we are not interested in? Life is meant to be lived fully and we have to love our lives, we have to do what makes us happy and size each day :)

I'd love to marvel at things and learn something new each day, though I'm not sure what, haha, but I know that there are many things I yet have to discover, surprise me!
And, I'd love to continue learning Italian, I'm learning by myself, but it's always nice to meet people who can help us improve languages, right?
Not only Italian, it's always nice to learn few words in new languages!
