About Me

I was born in Asturias, a beautiful green region in the North of Spain. I'm proud of my hometown (Gijón)! It's really different to everything people imagine when they think of Spain, and that's what gives Gijón its special charm.

I'm someone who likes being surrounded by books, faking voices, dressing up, doodling while taking notes in class and rainy days. As you can see, I follow Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's logic and think that those little seemingly silly details are great part of what shapes us and make us lovable.

I'm also a vegetarian (I can have fish from time to time, though!), and I don't drink alcohol or smoke.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has always appealed to me. Staying with actual natives? Learning about the culture and traditions of a country with their help? Sharing their life for a short period of time? It sounded like heaven to me.

I've finally felt brave enough to take the step to get out here and hopefully make new friends from all around the world!

EDIT 1: My first experience was delightful, and I'm hoping the following ones will also be great :). Sharing and learning is the way to go!
EDIT 2: I stayed with great hosts in Sweden and Norway this Summer. I learnt lots from them and they showed me around their cities :). We also shared some food, which was nice.
EDIT 3: After a year and a half, I had yet another incredible experience, this time in Japan. My host was really generous, and also interesting, so we talked a lot!
EDIT 4: I went back to my first host (Alexandre)'s house, in France. This time we didn't even use Couchsurfing. It has been almost three years since we first met, but we are still good friends! I loved staying with him and his family again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmmmm, that's a tough one... Right now I'd say:

*Music: Muse, Studio Killers, Green Day, movie soundtracks...
*Movie genres: I love animation (especially Studio Ghibli), suspense/psychological horror and comedy (yeah, rom-coms are cool too, from time to time!). I am also taking a course in Science Fiction Films, and loving it.
*Books: My favourite book is probably "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende. I've also enjoyed "I know why the caged bird sings", "Strange Weather in Tokyo", "The Pillars of the Earth", "The Shining", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "A Song of Ice and Fire" (just the first three books for now!), "The Little Prince", "1984", "Frankenstein", "Salem's Lot", "Momo", the "Harry Potter" saga (I LOVE HARRY POTTER)... I could go on forever. I really like reading! (Comics and visual novels are also something I love!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've tried to understand my fears and identify their roots instead of blindly fighting them. I think that's by far my biggest achievement ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach you whatever I know. I guess the most common request would be some Spanish lessons and/or info about Spain. That I can do :).

As for what I'd like to learn... I'd like to gain a little knowledge about your country, maybe even how to cook a typical dish or something like that. Aside from that, I love learning, so whatever you want to teach me will be welcome, be it skateboard tricks, card games, religious teachings, little known facts about something, piano playing, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've done some babysitting since I was a kid myself. Children are adorable! So I can help with that - reading out loud for the kids, singing lullabies for them to fall asleep and stuff! I'm good at taking care of cats, too. Also, as an artsy person, I'd love to sing for you (yes, even something in your native language! don't blame me if I ruin it with my Spanish accent, though!), maybe draw something cute...

I am an avid learner. Keeping people company and just listening to their life stories inspires me, which has led me to volunteer as a companion for elders a few times.

I would also love to share Spanish cuisine with you! I'm not a master chef at all, but if we work together and attempt a dish, I'm sure it'll turn out great!

As I said earlier, I can also help you with your Spanish if you want!
