About Me

I'm a french traveler who’s quit his job and his home to see the world , meet new people, and expand his vision on life.
I am on a journey throughout north and south America at the moment, eager to learn and appreciate how people live and get me out of the daily routine I had back home.
I’m also trying to improve my english and my spanish, and I think that Couchsurfing is the perfect means to do all these things at once!

I’m really easy-going, tidy and open-minded, I like to consider new ideas and to try to understand how people see the world and how I can learn from them.
Your point of view on the world matters a lot to me, and I am not only looking for a "place to sleep and take a shower".

Life is a long learning process, and you start to die when you stop learning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people while traveling, but not only travelers, I want to meet people who live there and tell what life is like.
Learning new things is essential in life, staying in the same confort zone and closed community is a nightmare to me.
There is no such thing as discovering the world without travelling, and there is no better way to travel than by earing from local people's point of view and experience.

Interests

I’m interested in visual art in general, especially photography.
One of the purpose of my trip is to take pictures and to write articles on my experience.
I’d like to try and become some kind of journalist when I go back home, don’t know yet how, but I’ll manage!
My other main passion is music, ranging from rock to jazz, metal, pop, classical, electro, blues, and shoegaze, dreampop. My guilty pleasure is j-pop :-D
I’m also a fan of retrogaming, mainly 80s and 90s videogame consoles.
The main reason I travel is meeting new people and learn new things, so I’d say it goes into the "interests" categorie as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite bands : Steely Dan, My Bloody Valentine, The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Rush, Steven Wilson, Michael Jackson, King Crimson, Perfume, Capsule, Yndi Halda, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, Fleetwood Mac, New Order, Emilie Simon, Stevie Wonder.
Almost anything from the 60s psyche-rock scene.
Anything from the 70s british prog-rock scene.
Anything from the 90s shoegaze scene.
Anything from the whole post-rock scene.
Too many things really, I listen to everything except hip-hop, but I’m open to any suggestion!

Favorite movies : Garden State, The Big Lebowski, The Shining, Alien, Donnie Darko, Lost in Translation,
Everything from Woody Allen, The Coen Brothers, John Carpenter, Paul Verhoeven, Wes Anderson.

Favorite books : The Catcher in the Rye, 1984, The Strange Case of Doctor Jekkyl and Mr Hyde, everything from H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov, Dave Eggers (thanks Kara).
Mostly fantastic and science-fiction novels.

I also consider videogames to be an art, on the same level as litterature, cinema, or music. Actually, videogames combine all these arts into one.

My favorite videogames are : Chrono Trigger, Castlevania 4, Xenoblade Chronicles, Super Mario Galaxy, Okami, Muramasa, Megaman 2, Final Fantasy 5, the Mario Kart series, the Super Smash Brothers series, and last but not least, Secret of Mana.
I mainly play on Nintendo and Sega consoles.
