Hey there!

I'm Marcel and I'm a guy from Diemen (just outside Amterdam), who is fairly new to this couchsurfing concept. Love to try it though!

Before living in Amsterdam I lived in Utrecht for several years - a real gem to visit - and did a year in Berlin in between. Before all of that I was born and raised in the eastern rural region of Twente (near to Germany). I'm an easy going, but social kinda guy that likes to listen to a broad, eclectic, range of music and tries to buy vinyl wherever he goes. Having a season ticket for Ajax, you could also say I'm a big football fan and I try not to skip any of their matches. Currently I'm looking for a job in my field of science and untill then I'm a planner and a driver/chauffeur.

As said, Diemen is very close to Amsterdam and a great place to stay if you want to be in the city quick (11 mins till Central Station), without wanting to be right in the middle of the tourist chaos per se :-).

Given the flexible nature of my job it's hard to plan anything in advance. If you ask to stay you'd be best off to do it a day or two in advance. Hope to see one of you!

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Like to meet locals when I go to places/cities/towns, and like to see the places they go to. I always prefer nice local area's/streets above the standard tourist spots wherever I go.

Music: Velvet Underground, Radiohead, Grizzly Bear, Cannibal Ox, Underworld, Deftones, Deerhoof, Deerhunter, Philip Glass, The Melvins, Drive Like Jehu, Aphex Twin, Stars of the Lid, Wilco, etc. etc. etc. :-)

Movies: Anything by David Lynch and to a lesser extend anything by Stanley Kubrick. Indie, art house, whatever.

Books: Not much of a reader.
