About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel more miles than my father (he's a trucker driver).

ABOUT ME

I'm afraid whatever I write here will be outdated in a minute, but I have some traits that do not tend to change over time.

I'm easy going and a bit shy at first, but it takes no time for me to get talkative when I meet nice people.

I'm father of lovely and charming 10 years old girl called Meive (which is how portuguese speaking people would spell the Irish Maedhbh). She lives with her mother but I try to see her as often as possible. Best things in life? Answer her questions about everything and read to her.

I'm mostly a home person, reading, watching movies or just programming. But from time to time I go out with my friends for some beers and good talking.

PHILOSOPHY

If you can't open it, then it's not yours.
If you can't share it, then it's not worth it.
If you can't trust people... dude, you're so lonely.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer couch in the beautiful and warm city of Recife in Brazil.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surf my friends' couches since I was a teenager, I just didn't know the name for that. Just very recently I joined CouchSurfing which seemed to me a wonderful idea, and indeed it is.

Interests

Computer programming and Open Source software (hey, it's my living but I'm also passionate about what I do), english language, history (western mostly, but it also includes all the universe), comic books (Neil Gaiman, Allan Moore). From time to time I like to write (in portuguese) about life, death, higher dimentions, and other silly things, and people seem to like and, better yet: they argue.
I have an unusual (where I grew up it is unusual) fascination for the Irish culture and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Among my favorite authors are Edgar Allan Poe, Neal Stephenson, H. P. Lovecraft, Conan Doyle, Tolkien

Some music I eclectically enjoy: Johnny Cash, The Cure, The Doors, Bob Marley, Perl Jam, David Bowie, Queen, Placebo, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Dresden Dolls, Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones, Raul Seixas, Nirvana.

Some movies that I could think of right now: Trainspotting, Ladyhawke, Little Buddha, Wargames, Back to The Future, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and Bruce Lee stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was very young I went to explore the mountain (just a hill, in fact) that I could see from the kitchen window. It was winter and everything in this expedition turn awry. In the end I walked back home covered in mud, tired and happy.

Standing very still in complete darkness inside Newgrange, while the storyteller were telling us about the winter solstice Sun.

Sleeping under the stars for the firt time in Ireland by the side of a bonfire that I lit myself.

Jump in the freezing (for a Brazilian) sea in Rosscarbery, Ireland.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell tales about the northeast of Brazil to anyone interested in going there. I can teach the basic phrases of portuguese. I can also teach how to fry a spicy soyburguer.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Hungary, Ireland

Countries I’ve Lived In
