About Me

An important update: I've moved house and now I live in Podgórze, which isn't as centrally located as Kazimierz (but it's still a good location for exploring the city). Look up "Rondo Matecznego" to know roughly where my flat is.

CURRENT MISSION

Making the most of the summer.

PHILOSOPHY

Without new experiences, something inside of us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken. It wasn't me who said that, it was Frank Herbert but I really agree with the statement!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'd met a lot of nice people from couchsurfing so I finally decided to sign up. I hope making friends with couchsurfers everywhere on the road! I also love travelling (like all of us, I suppose) and when I'm not able to do it I can at least be a part of someone else's journey which is a bit as if I travelled myself.

Interests

Music (African, blues, reggae, punk, folk, psychedelic rock, tekno and psytrance and everything that appeals to me at the moment)
Mountain hiking
Literature
Getting to know new places, cultures and ways of life

Music, Movies, and Books

Monty Python, Brain Donors, Spies like us and sometimes something more serious.
Writers: Bruno Schulz, Witold Gombrowicz, Izaak Babel, Karl Ove Knausgard (is he really a good writer? I'm still asking myself this question), Etgar Keret, Taras Prohasko, Michel Houellebecq, Thomas Bernhard.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solo hiking in the Himalayas for 19 days and seeing Mount Everest.
Hiking and camping for 8 days in Polish mountains, in February (believe me, it's not warm here at that time of the year).
But what really amazes me is that I somehow manage to get down to work every day (or almost). It's much harder for me than the things listed above ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely share my flat and knowledge about Krakow with you. I can teach you how to read a map and use a compass (absolutely crucial in my city :P ). I could also recommend you some good Polish films and writers and give you tips about the places I've visited. I also know Polish mountains fairly well.

As far as learning is concerned I would appreciate if someone could give me a few lessons on playing the jaw harp. I got myself one in Vietnam and although I enjoy it a lot I feel that I'm not using its potential to the fullest...
But simply learning about you and the place you come from will be more than enough!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good sense of humour, a few stories and good Polish music.
