I was raised in the south, but you would never know it until I start drooling when someone mentions the word barbecue. I'm a microbiologist by day with a emerging passion for photography.

I am still discovering my identity as a traveler, but I seem to enjoy a mix of aimless wandering, purposeful photography, and idling in cafes. Planning is half the fun for me, but I am learning that the best memories arise from the spontaneous moments.

Although I haven't traveled extensively, I have had enough experience in hotels, hostels, and couches to say that this is my preferred method of traveling. No other accommodation option provides the authenticity of connecting with a local and seeing a new destination through their eyes. I always learn something new and discover an opportunity I never would have found through a guidebook.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

On my last trip to Iceland, I decided to hike to a random waterfall on the side of the road. Fog was swirling in and out of the jagged mountain peaks, and I was the only person for miles. I cupped my hands and drank the purest glacier water tumbling over myriad mossy rocks. It felt like I had been transported into a Tolkein novel, and certainly was not difficult to see how the Icelandic people believe in hidden folk!
