About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet You!

ABOUT ME

I love to travel (bet you haven't heard THAT before :-). While I've been to all 50 states in the USA, and 50+ countries, most of my recent travel has been in Central/South America.

Languages are fun - my undergrad degree was European Studies, so I learned passable French along with some German. Living only 20 miles from Mexico has enabled me to pick up a decent amount of Spanish.

PHILOSOPHY

I had one of these once, but then life got in the way. I'm working on putting another one together - let me know if you've got it all figured out!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly hosting, and also CS events, particularly while on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experiences so far have ranged from good to kick-ass, and I wouldn't undo any of them!

Interests

I hardly ever get tired of talking about travel - pretty much every destination is interesting on some level. Just started trying to figure out some frequent flyer hacks, so those are fun too. Investing in general (mostly stocks and real estate) is a topic of interest. I also enjoy thinking about tax policy, but I promise not to inflict that on you without your permission.

Music, Movies, and Books

Better Off Dead, Before Sunrise, Clerks, Gran Torino and Fight Club are all high on my list of favorite movies. A Map For Saturday is a must-see for anyone who participates in CS. I listen to a variety of music but usually gravitate back to my early 90s grunge bands and anything from the 80s. As for books, I'll try anything that has won a literary prize. Won't always make it through, but I'll TRY it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? Sorry, I can't count.

Burning Man 2011 just jumped to the top of this list.

I rode a bicycle across the U.S., from California to Florida.

I bungee-jumped at Victoria Falls in Zambia/Zimbabwe.

I ran the Vancouver Marathon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some English, or some basics in a few other languages. I'm a pretty good reference for anyone wanting to take a road trip across the U.S. (I've gone coast to coast at least a half dozen times).
