About Me

At the moment, I live and study in Bristol .. a beautiful city in the south west of England. However, I was born in the sunny Napoli in 1994. Napoli holds an incredible history and culture: according to history books, Napoli’s first settlement date back to the ninth century BC, when the first greek colonists from the near Cumae landed on Island of Megaride. However, miths say that the origins of Napoli is connected to the unfortunate tale of the siren Partenope. The siren Partenope, refused by Ulysses, threw herself in the sea and her dead body finished on the rocks of the island of Megaride, which was then denominated Partenope. Partenope was later refounded by new greek colonies as Neapolis, which in ancient greek means new city.

Interests

I am very passionate about film photography. This is probably due the many beautiful old family photos that I have been looking at since I was a kid. I love real color tones and amazing light captured in film photos. My grandfather used to be a great photographer and he transmitted this passion to my mum. They have been photographing my family for years.

I have a few 35mm and 120mm analogue cameras and I mainly photograph with Kodak Portra and Ilford HP5/Delta. I love photographing the people I encounter in my travels and the places where those people "live and function". I have been using photography to create a sort of personal development project that I call photography research. I started taking photos two years ago, when my life became an ever-changing journey. An outward journey going into the outside world but especially a journey leading inward, into myself. I was enjoying the journey, but I have soon realised that I could not really handle it. I was feeling distracted and confused by the experiences that I was living all in once. The experiences were transforming themselves in abstract forgotten moments and episodes that I was leaving behind me. Therefore, I decided to use photography to seize the moments that were closest to my heart. Creating images, I was making sense of my journey by learning how to effectively "journey into now". This is why I believe that the images you will see are not really photos; they are instead experiences of a journey.
