Overview
About Me
I'm an Italian researcher working at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
I'm a sociable and easygoing person who loves traveling and exploring new places. I'm very curious and always interested in discovering local dishes, traditions and hidden gems. When visiting a new city, I try to walk as much as possible (often getting myself lost more or less on purpose) to learn as much as I can and get the general vibe.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I feel that meeting people is a fundamental part of traveling, and I've always had good experiences with locals giving me suggestions on "non-touristy" things that are worth doing.
Although I've just joined the community, I really like the philosophy of repaying other people's kindness by hosting other fellow travelers and treating them as I would like to be treated.
As my experience with Couchsurfing increases, I hope to update this section with more information :)
Interests
I'm always enthusiastic about experimenting new thing. As a result, I'm interested in more or less anything.
When I'm visiting a city, I like to learn more about the local history and culture. I am particularly interested in any artistic heritage that has a story to tell (about historical events, illustrious figures, local myths and legends...), and I always do my best to recognize the artistic symbolism of the place I'm visiting.
I also like to dive head first in the more "everyday" part of local culture. I like to explore new places, discover new food (Regardless of what it is: I'll literally eat ANYTHING, I promise ^^) and see new traditions.
As for outdoor activities. Personal favorites include (in no particular order) camping, hiking, bicycling, skiing, canoeing and snorkeling. I've also tried (and had loads of fun doing so) mountain climbing, surfing, windsurfing and snowboarding.
Other thing I like include: cooking, martial arts, board games, salsa and... Just hanging around chatting :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2014 I went backpacking on my own in South Africa for three weeks. That was, literally, a life-changing experience for me. The most amazing thing in that trip?
I went bungee-jumping!
Jumping off a bridge with an elastic tied to your ankles is a surreal experience... It's absolutely crazy, but I'd definitely recommend it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
One thing I can definitely share with my host are experience and traveling advice for the places I've been to (Italy in particular, but I have tips for everywhere).
Another thing I like to do when somebody host me is to cook a typical Italian meal and have dinner together. If for some reason that isn't possible (mainly due to time constraints) I'll at least try to bring some typical Belgian food (beer, chocolate, or both) to share.
