About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It's a magical world, Hobbes ol' buddy, let's go exploring!

ABOUT ME

An upstanding young citizen whose biggest vice is a need for constant novelty. A lover of good books and cheap drinks. Long talks with strangers and long walks through strange places.

PHILOSOPHY

"It's more like, if you can think of times in your life that you've treated people with extraordinary decency and love, and pure uninterested concern, just because they were valuable as human beings. The ability to do that with ourselves. To treat ourselves the way we would treat a really good, precious friend. Or a tiny child of ours that we absolutely loved more than life itself. And I think it's probably possible to achieve that. I think part of the job we're here for is to learn how to do it."
- David Foster Wallace

Interests

My God, man, do you realize what you've done asking me to list my interests? It's like asking Warren Buffett to count his fortune one dollar at a time. There's the books, all those books I've read and haven't read and want to read, and all the places I've never been to and the things I haven't seen with my own eyes, and wandering foreign streets in a happy daze, a quiet witness to foreign lives, to mime my meaning to another human being, each of us mumbling in his own tongue, and have him finally understand, and to be alive and well and electric with vim and vigor, yes, all that. Oh I could go on...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a bookworm, bookworms get full. I'm a bookvirus, set me loose in a library and eventually I'll spread to every volume.

Treasure Island, The Travels of Marco Polo, Travels with Charley, Horatio Hornblower, Stanley Elkin, Vladimir Nabokov, Flann O'Brien, Philip Roth, William H. Gass, Kurt Vonnegut, Donald Barthelme, James Joyce, William Gaddis, Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges, Ernest Hemingway, J. D. Salinger, Jonathan Swift, Herman Melville, John Gardner, David Foster Wallace, John Hodgman, True History of the Kelly Gang, The Odyssey, Heart of Darkness, Catch-22, U.S.A. trilogy, The Master and Margarita, Eagle in the Snow, Goethe's Faust, Andersonville, The Cyberiad, A Toccata of Galuppi's, Ozymandias, Cloths of Heaven, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, and there's probably more.

The British perfected rock in the 60s and 70s. The era has never been outdone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure if it's good that I can't think of just one amazing thing to write here. Maybe I'm too easily impressed. (OR MAYBE MY LIFE IS AWESOME?) But I'd gladly share, if you ask.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
