About Me

CURRENT MISSION

at the moment....probably trying to figure out how I can get away with not behaving like an adult as I drift ever further into having to spend more time in boring adulthood as they surround me with adultey stuff like with worries about careers, relationships and living situations. Just let me sit wherever making piew piew laser sounds as I imagine sitting in an X wing fighting Godzilla. But nOOO, fucking financial things, apartment things and job things blah blah blah....

ABOUT ME

I'm Marcus, 32 years of earth orbits. I love animals (not in a weird way) except for a debilitating fear of sharks. I would say the fear is logical (don't get me wrong, when I'm on land, it's all good) but if we were to experience a tsunami, the tsunami itself doesn't scare me but the fact that it may contain sharks, all kinds of sharks that the wave can piff at you while you're sitting on the 4th floor of a building minding your own business, that does. And that's not logical.

I watch a lot of films @_@ they are like my medicine and they keep me nice and centred!

I'm a camera assistant and have been working in the film and TV industry for 5-6 years in Oz and another 5 here in Berlin. When I'm not on set I tend to work whatever bar jobs I can dredge up.

I'm a pretty chilled out guy who's generally always up for socialising even if it's just talking about nothing in particular. Whether going out adventuring or just hangin out with no plans. Both sound good even when I'm knackered (I'm not not a cranky guy at all)!

I suppose that'll do for a description. If anyone's more curious, feel free to message me I guess.

PHILOSOPHY

#1: don't be a dick #2 use your instinct and as corny as it sounds, listen to your heart. if you're unhappy about something, change it #3 think about what you're going to do before you do it but don't think about it TOO much that you trap yourself! I'm a firm believer in acting on impulses provided they won't land you in trouble...it's a delicate balance I'm still trying to work out :P

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to cook even though I think I'm shit at it and every time I do I have a new scar or burn to show for it. I'm tidier than the average Joe, upbeat and handy to have in a pinch as I get a kick out of being helpful and feel best when everyone's havin a good time!

I'm happy to return the favour of letting me crash at your place with anything that helps. cooking, cleaning, looking after pets, fixing things, drinking, shouting encouraging words at you when you work out, kung fu, origami animals...ok, I'm running out of skills to help you out with now. if you just want someone to hang out with whether it be sight seeing or just watching a movie OR if you don't really have the time to do anything at all but just need someone trustworthy to get rid of that cockroach or dead body in your apartment while you're at work. am always happy to earn karma points. cheers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

previously, the only couch surfing experience I had was: a) falling asleep on the lounge watching a movie, b) crashing on a friends couch after a night out or c) having an argument with a girlfriend and seeking refuge in the living room

SINCE THEN, I surfed all through Austria, Switzerland and Germany and made a shit tonne of good pals doing it. I only got a decent apartment recently but I may once in a while be able to host someone (kinda hectic busy atm the moment tho :/

Interests

going to the cinema, watching movies anywhere really, reading comics and books, playing video games, golf, pool, poker, I've been trying to follow soccer but I get too distracted to follow a whole season :s, nature documentaries, going out for a drink, am a very social guy who loves meeting people (if you leave me at a bus stop next to an old lady for long enough, she will know my favorite ninja turtle, how I ruined last night's dinner and whatever else is on my mind), I kind of enjoy figuring out how things work and will pretty much have a crack at fixing anything until I get a bad electric shock and then I will leave it and call somebody else. photography...it's probably just easier for me to say 'the world and everything in it'. considering we are pretty much standing on a giant rock fucking hurtling through space (BASICALLY technically means we are on a spaceship), that's pretty cool. not to mention super trippy @_@

Music, Movies, and Books

@_@ WAAY too many movies to list here, so I won't. As far as books are concerned, when I'm reading fiction I read mainly fantasy and am currently stuck into Robert E. Howard's stuff (he created the character of Conan the Barbarian). But I read a shit tonne of comics Japanese, Korean and American. am currently going through the Hellboy series but 100 Bullets is a favourite and there are too many manga series for me to mention without scaring you all away from my massive geek nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

geez, I dunno! so many questions. last week I rescued someones dog. well, by rescue I mean I was walking home and this jack russell was walking down the footpath towards me and I couldn't see anyone with him so I picked him up and called the number on the collar but got no answer so I left a message but for a good 30 minutes or so no one replied I just sat there beside the footpath hanging out with this dog that seemed pretty happy to just do nothing. I didn't really know what to do with him but then I got a reply. Turns out he lived just a block away from me so I picked him up and returned him to the old Greek guy that lived there. and that's my christmas deed done for the year. ok so it's not like 'jaw dropping' amazing and didn't include explosions or funny stories but hey, that's still pretty awesome that they got their dog back.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been trying to learn how to do that whistle that's really loud. the one you do with your fingers. And I've been failing miserably at it. I DON'T GET IT! It looks easy but all it does is leave me with a sore face and a feeling of defeat. Maybe someone can help with that. in return, I dunno, maybe by the time I meet you I've learned a skill that's useful
