Well howdy doo dah fellow humans. My name is Marcus Childs (@marcuschilds on instagram). I am brand new to CS but am hoping to find amazing hosts, make even better memories, and hopefully get some references to build credibility. I am a medical student who LOVES to travel with his camera. Besides school and photography I am very goofy, tall, love food, fitness, reading, and Beyonce.

I post most of my photography on Instagram. It’s my artistic outlet. I am currently using a Canon 6D Mark ii and I love it, my first full frame camera. I am slowly learning more and more about photography. I also sing in a professional choir back home (The Phoenix Symphony Choir) which is another artist outlet. Besides that I’m very into science.

Nutrition and fitness is a big part of my life. I received a Bachelors in Nutrition and it changed my world. I’ve lost 60 pounds and have 10 more kinds to go until I’m at my goal of 10% body fat. Woo-hoo! I have a before and after picture in my profile. I’m always happy to share my knowledge about food with others!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've just been accepted to medical school where I will be studying to become a physician. To celebrate and enjoy my remianing freedom I will be travelling. When I travel I am one of those people who avoids touristy stuff and tries to live like the locals do. Being on here will give me the opportunity to see new places through the eyes of locals, experience authentic culture, and find the best places to eat!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music: I dont have a favorite genre. I love ALMOST every type of music excepr hard rock, EDM, and Dub-Step. I do love: jazz, Latin Jazz, R&B, soul, Motown, ballads, rock, rap, country, pop, alternative, and classical music. I’ll enjoy almost any music.

Favorite Movies: Les Mis, Breakfast Club, and Sherlock Holmes. (I love quality acting, little CG, and lost of mystery. If a movie is unpredictable my brain LOVES it.)

Favorite Books: Very into Fantasy, Biblical Fiction, and Medical Thrillers.(think DaVinci’s Code).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once booked three weeks of travel right after I had foot surgery. I backpacked through Europe in a medical boot and it was my first time traveling alone. Oops🤷🏻‍♂️

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach others how to cook, about nutrition, basic sciences, and how to use a camera!

Learn: I am ALWAYS striving to learn new cultures, languages, and cuisines. I’m working on my Spanish, I’m fluent in English, and would love to learn sign language.

Share: I can share my jokes, my stories, and my knowlege. I’m a waking trivia book and love to have intellectual conversation. I’m a straight forward person who craves depth in conversation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Obviously a host is hosting because they're looking for unique people to meet and learn from. I'm your guy. I have lived an extremely unique life in my 24 years and I love to sit down and share life stories with others. To connect with humans, learn from their experiences, and expand one's network is such a beautiful and humaistic thing.
