About Me

Im a medical science graduate but now a martial arts head instructor from Perth Western Australia. I’m an amateur Muay Thai boxer but I teach taekwondo to children. I’ve travelled mostly in Europe and lived in Thailand for a while but mostly to train and compete. In my spare time I draw and read but I am very sociable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To make friends in Vancouver, I know no one there and have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve got a working holiday visa and while I couch surf I will be diligently looking for rentals and a job when I’m not hanging out and trying to seem cool

Interests

Board games and jigsaw puzzles. My favourite board games are trivial pursuit, scattergories and risk, but I am down for all board games, except monopoly. If you wanna play monopoly that’s cool but it’s gonna be an ordeal, when has monopoly ever not been an ordeal?

One thing I’ll sorely miss about home is my weekly pub trivia quiz night. If anyone has a trivia night team with an empty slot, I’m your guy. If you don’t have a free slot but have a weak link in your trivia team, I’ll break it to them softly that they’ve been replaced by me, your new team mate.

Stand up comedy is something I can consume for hours, if I have a favourite comedian, I trawl the internet for every thing they’ve ever performed.

As previously mentioned I’m very into martial arts of all types. My interest in martial arts lies more in the technique and strategy side of things, not the violent side.

I’m heavily into drawing and painting, I can be found doing this in most my spare time, when I’m not reading.

I’m truly interested in anyone who is passionate about things. If you’re into cardboard and can speak about card board for hours, I’m down.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa
The tao is Pooh by Benjamin hoff
The te of piglet by Benjamin hoff
There’s a bunch but those are the three recent ones I’ve read. I mostly hire out books about drawing so I can learn more. I’m very much an amateur.

Movies:
I’m reallt into stand up comedy so my favourite comedians are
John mulaney, tig notaro, Maria Bamford, bill burr, Kyle kinane, norm MacDonald, there’s so many more but that’s all I can remember of the top of my head.
Actual movies:
Wall-e
The Martian
Baraka
O brother where art thou

Music:
It’s really hard to choose favourite music but I’m into hip hop and a lot of alternative stuff. I have a different genre for different moods but hip hop is a genre I can always fall back on

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived trained and fought in Thailand but I’m no where near pro. It was just cool to do. On paper I sound like some sort of hard ass dude but I’m not into martial arts to be violent. Im just as at home watching musicals as I am watching fights.

Teach, Learn, Share

Im a martial arts and self defence instructor so I could teach you some of that if you fancy. I don’t like to toot my own horn but I’m not bad at teaching. If you meet me and there’s a skill I have that you are interested in learning it’s likely I can teach you and I’ll have fun doing it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I just like sharing stories, that’s what I boil down to. I’ve been quite a few places and tried my hand at many things. I like learning things and personally I’ve found teaching people things helps me understand the subject more. So I suppose I can provide you with a willing student if you need.

Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Laos, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
