About Me

Hello! My name is Marcus and I am from Singapore! I love to chill, eat, and explore different countries. Old buildings and architecture are my favourite, and I have been to many places to see the scenery and culture. I love music, art, and well I enjoy a bit of geeky talk about science and all.

Well, if I may boast, I am somewhat of a photographer. Before I flew from Singapore to Grenoble (France) for my exchange program, my brother, who is a photographer, lent me his DSLR for the exchange as I was starting to have a vested interest in photography. Ever since then, I've been absorbed into the world of nature and landscape photography, soaking in the atmosphere and trying out different methods to capture the moments and take them back with me to Singapore. I am currently still travelling around the world but I think it'll be really great to just meet people of different cultures and get to know them. Of course, I brought along a little bit of Singapore to the rest of the world so hopefully you will like it!

PHILOSOPHY
Everybody has a story and lesson to tell, and it is always worth listening and giving a thought to it

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people and to talk. I've not really couchsurfed before but I feel that this is an interesting concept to try. I was introduced to this by my friends and I felt intrigued by the idea of getting to know people better so I decided to just try this out.

I don't accept random friend requests though but if you want to meet first ill be glad to do so!

Interests

Like I said before, music and arts. I used to dance, DJ and do music stuff like play the ukulele and drums. Chilling is also my passion too! Well apart from that, I like to travel to different places to see different things. It's a different culture and world out there, with people from different countries and societies with different cultures. I enjoy listening to their stories and also commenting and questioning and getting to know them better.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I can name a few!

1) I saw the northern lights in Iceland while travelling with my friends. I remember it was -5 degrees when it happened and my friends and I huddled together waiting for my camera shutters to capture the moment. It was the best moment of our lives as we were lucky then: the aurora's highest brightness was that day and any other day wouldn't have been this good.

2) I travelled to Mukdahan (Thailand) with my uncle to mingle with the community people there. They were really receptive and understanding, and even so more hospitable than I could ever imagine. It was really worth the trip there and I learnt so much and experienced a new culture that they could offer me. PS: they treated me like their own people and offered me so much food. Was really touched by their generosity.

Well..coming to think of it there's really a lot of stories that I can say, but I feel embarrassed because "amazing" is really subjective hahaha..I guess my stories are more "interesting" than "amazing", so it'll be cool if I could just meet up and we could talk about our experiences!

Teach, Learn, Share

Anything and everything you are willing to share with me! It could be languages, it could be cultures, arts, debates on politics. I want to listen to anything and everything that you can offer me. What I do not want is to not talk to you or for you to just take me as a person from the CS website. I want to be your friend and learn from you as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My culture, my life, and maybe food? I'm not a good cook but I do try. If the hosts (you) are willing to listen to my stories then I'll be more than happy to talk and listen to you :)
