Overview
About Me
(I had to leave my previous accommodation in 2017 and have been staying at my friend's ever since. Therefore, unfortunately, I'm unable to host travelers at the moment).
I love this planet, and I am very excited about all the new things I can learn on it every day. Yet, I am very concerned about our impact on our home, thus I believe that the well-being of a harmonious ecosystem is more important than well-being of mankind, especially when it comes to overexploitation of resources.
I live my life with an ironic attitude, thus I love to joke, make fun, not take things too seriously, that including myself. I believe that the ultimate aphrodisiac is our intelligence, so I feel really enthusiastic about puns and other types of word twists. I also happen to create new words sometimes.
I like creativity and being curious. When sending a request, please think up a sentence with the word "Earth" and insert it as a subject line. I'm really curious what your thoughts are! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
AS A HEADLINE:
I'm a humanist! I love meeting new people!
Plus, I have positive associations with both the words "couch" and "surfing" ;).
AS A STORY:
My friends have been telling me about it until I finally visited this website, read a few profiles of people (some very interesting), and decided that this is a great platform to meet new faces from different parts of the world, where you don't actually have to leave your city, or even - in extremity - your couch!
I find this virtual place as a reasonable alternative to the hated time-consuming-and-not-bringing-anything-to-your-life Facebook. Why? Because by inviting or visiting others you can learn about their culture, customs, food, or simply what they have to say about how does life look like from their perspective, and the best thing in it is: you get this experience for free!
Last thing, possibly most important - only last year, at the age of 30, I had my first experience with free travelling: with no plan, no booked communication tickets, no specified places to lay your head for the night - and it was a great one. Hitchhiking is a great thing to do in Portugal, and you can sometimes hear great stories, sometimes just simple ones. But they all have a meaning for someone, and it is so generous of those people to share some of their life with you, not only the physical space inside of a steel box on four wheels.
I try to be self-conscious and aware of my impact on the planet. I try to cycle and recycle wherever possible, eat less meat and animal products, don't buy made in China, but recently I've been also getting more and more into the idea of sharing things among people, since I deem money obsolete and corruptive.
Thus, I decided: I want more! And here I am :).
Interests
I LOVE MATHEMATICS AND CLASSICAL MUSIC!
I am a very curious human being, thus I take interest in most things in and out of this planet. If I don't have any knowledge in a particular field, I am a keen listener, otherwise I tend to get involved in a brainstorm ;).
Recently, I've been involved in much discussion about the hot topic: current geopolitical state of our world, which mostly means ominous warmongering and politics, and its direct result refugee crisis.
SCIENCE
From the scientific fields, I particularly like: oenology, geology, volcanology, oceanography, modern engineering in architecture and environmental protection, economics, (tbc)
My other fields of special interest are: foreign voyages, world war II, gen. G.S. Patton, Jr, Russian history, civilisations and cultures, fashion design, cookery, (tbc)
SPORTS
I am also an active person - I love outdoor sports or activities: cycling, swimming, sailing, hiking and climbing hills (I think I've never climbed a mountain yet), volleyball, football, and of course travelling. I also like extreme sports: I've done underground exploration (abandoned mines), dream jumping, pendulum, zip line, and other stuff revolving around ropes.
I finally want to start surfing, and I want to sail more, since I haven't done it for some considerable time. If you hear of any sailing trip, please let me know.
IMPORTANT!!!
I just bought a 4 people dinghy, so as soon as I transport it to my home I will want to start creating events - like fishing, exploring and chilling trips - here, around Edinburgh, or further up north, and I will need crew members ;). If you feel like it - drop a line!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love classical music and opera. I like music from practically almost any genre, but I tend to like more songs with great melody line or complex instrumental line, or meaningful lyrics. My main audio interest lately has been Frank Zappa. Oh, and I'm passionate about Pavarotti.
I like crime and spy books - especially written by: Craig Russel, Henning Mankell and Marek Krajewski.
I sometimes spend hours on wikipedia, and I would count it as a book since that's how "standard" encyclopedias are being published ;).
Last, but not least - I like poetry. That of a Polish author Zbigniew Herbert I feel the most. I also have the 1st print of the debauched poetry written by John Wilmot, 2nd earl of Rochester - a copy ironically numbered 69 :D.
I don't watch too much. But I do like psychological dramas, and movies produced particularly in: Russia, Denmark, UK and Ireland (and one more country which I don't remember now) (update: of course - Italy!), and some old school Polish movies, too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There were many more crazy slash stupid things than amazing, so you can choose from these two:
1. Rafting on River Lyon (Perth & Kinross, Scotland) on an inflatable mattress.
2. Climbing the rope out of a 90m mine shaft only to find out on the top that my carabiner had its screw unlocked.
I have to think a wee while more to remember if there was anything amazing ;)
Got it: I can proudly say, that I can make people smile and set them into a good mood if they're low. This is not your typical "one-off thing" and it's an irregularly recurring interaction, but I do find it amazing and heart-warming.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, if someone wants to learn Polish in a few days.. ;)
English of course, and German, too.
Any other academic or life knowledge that I have gathered.
I love to cook, so I would say maybe some recipes, too. Don't deem myself worthy of sharing skills in this field.
Naturally, I can share my painting skills and some tips, although I would prefer if you hired me for the job and hosted me in your place ;).
What I Can Share with Hosts
My time and company, hopefully some miles and smiles, as well.
I can try to bring you something from Scotland if you have anything particular in mind that you would like from here.
Otherwise: joint singing, legendary stories, possibly a drink.
Finally, any of the above!
