About Me

I am student of international relations. In the future I would like to work in UN or to become diplomat for my country. I am very easy going and calm person. I perceive my self as a very tolerant person. I believe that tolerance and understanding each other is key to happiness in this vast world. That is why I am curious of different cultures, history and religion. Since I have joined AIESEC (international students organization) I have met many foreigners from whom I have learnt a lot. I know that conversations with people from different background is very instructive and it let me learn, understand my self in the wider spectrum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was in China I was hosted by family that was very kind, helpful and they gave me best experience. If you want to learn about different culture, it is best to stay with the locals, not in fancy hotels. I would like to meet very interesting people from every part of the world and I also would like to be part of that interesting community. I feel great in multicultural environment and if I want to travel anywhere abroad, I can't imagine staying somewhere else than in one of the hosts from CS.

Interests

As I have mentioned before I am interested in different cultures, religion and I love history. I also like to dig into politics, however I never tend to impose my beliefs or my will on anyone. Sports is something that was always part of me and it always brang me some joy. Basketball is the sport that I love, but I also like many different disciplines. There is of course nerdy side. I love playing RPGs, but recently I didn't have much time to do so. I am huge fan of movies, I've seen a looooot of them. I am always accompanied by music - many genres. Sometimes I like to collapse in my room with book in my hand, but it must be something good.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am big fan of Stanley Kubrick and his work. I love his approach to morality and represantation of its problems. Stanley had this gift to show something hideous and terrible and in the meantime same movie made you laugh. For instance I think that "Full metal jacket" is a masterpiece in that regard.

Music, hmm. I love everything apart from Jazz and Blues. I listen to, mostly, Metal, Classical, a lot of electronic music. However if I had to choose one band I think that it would be KoRn.

Books. Favourite book - definitely "Brave new world" by A. Huxley. Great exposition of antiutopic world. Society ruled by joy and happiness. When you read it everything in yourself tells you that it is wrong, but on the other hand you would like to be in that reality, live in that apparent happy world. Is it better to live in the worst reality than in the best illusionary world? I find this topic very interesting and I am keen on discussing it with anyone :D.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is my trip to China as a volunteer. I always wanted to travel to China as I was interested in far east culture. However being there always seemed to me surreal. I gathered my courage and finaly decided to go there. It was unbelivable, something that was only in my dreams has become reality - AMAZING! Of course I wasn't there only to travel. I was teaching english to chinese youth, mostly from poor families. I think it was much more rewarding and it had bigger impact on my life than the fact that I was in China. I felt that my presence, my teachings were helpful for students and somehow I have broadened their horizons. It also, helped me in better understanding of my self. I changed my major, changed my attitude. That whole trip was life changing (I know it sounds cheeky, but hey! I am just sharing :D). I have been in China in Xi'an for 2 months. I could write a book about it. I am very eager to share my story with someone and exchange my experiences with that person.

Teach, Learn, Share

If I am the guest I would begin from learning for sure. I would like to learn everything abot the country that I am in, about the culture, cusine, music, traditions, local stories and of course about the host.
"Teach" hmm... I don't think I could teach someone. I could just share my experience, share my views and if someone wants to he might learn from it ^^.

I am always sharing, I love to do that, of course with some boundaries ;).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can definitely share my experience my story. My trip to China, my normal life in Poland. History and culture of my motherland. I could also share some interesting fact about Polish people, some funny, some not. I am always very honest about me and my fellow countrymen, so I think my description would be kind of interesting.
