About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Eating beetroots, carrots and coriander and bouldering my way to supreme happiness.
ABOUT ME
My favourite things in the world include food and everything that has to do with it, music, reading and travelling (duh). I try combining everything I love in a way that does the least harm to the environment around me, sometimes more successfully than others. Last winter I started rock climbing, which is pretty awesome. I'm fairly laidback, and like hanging around people who don't take themselves too seriously, and who can sit back and relax without feeling guilty about 'missing out' on something.
I laugh a lot.
I'm a huge contrast in terms of sociability; I love hanging out, and 'discovering' people, as well as needing my own space and being very clear about my personal boundaries.
I'm straightforward. I don't like 'talking around the porridge' as Norwegians say; that is, the opposite of straightforwardness.
I'm an idealist, which I guess makes me just another couchsurfer.
PHILOSOPHY
Make changes or take action that's consistent with what matters.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I don't know if I can call my experience couchsurfing, as I've never really thought about my travelling in those terms before. I had a couple of crazy, random experiences in north-western China, as the Chinese are some of the most generous and hospitable people on the planet, but most of the time I've simply tavelled the hostelling sort of way and spent time with random people I met en route. Cambodia was definitely a highlight in terms of wonderful, unexpected travel companions (in terms of most things, really).
Now that I've had some surfers on my couch, I can safely say I like the hosting part. Independent, honest and laid back travellers are always (well, most of the time) welcome into my life.
Interests
Music (I believe 'genre' is a silly word; there's good music everywhere, ready to be picked up and loved, as well as bad, which I mostly try to politely ignore). I won't repeat again exactly how much I love food and spend my time learning about it. At least I won't go into detail. I don't want kids, but I get to be the 'cool aunt' for two little weirdos (weird being a very good word). I like putting on tiny, tight shoes and climb stuff. I love, love, love film and I love BIFF, the Bergen International Film Festival (every October), a real underdog in the European film festival scene. Joss Whedon is my main man for film/TV, and Firefly is the best TV-show. Ever. I love David Lynch, and Hayao Miyazaki. Japanese animation is just one of those important things I need to be reminded that there are so many wonderful ways to tell a story, and so many unlikely stories to tell.
I laugh a LOT, often to the point of choking, so I could say 'fun stuff' is definitely one of my interests.

Music, Movies, and Books
The impossible list of favourites (if I absolutely had to pick):
Movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Documentary: Surfwise
Music: Animal Collective
Book: The End of Mr.Y, Scarlett Thomas
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Too much to boil down.. My most recent, amazing traveling experience was Sudan. Wow.
Teach, Learn, Share
Food; baking, cooking, juicing and knowing it. Without using animal products. I'm foody. And vegany.
I can also teach you to knit! I'm a knitted-sweaters-carry-me-through-the-winter sort of gal.
Learning - yes, I like that too, a lot. If you happen to have done any rock climbing, I'll happily do that with you and pick up any tips you can give me. Introduce me to new music, books and film, teach me a neat chopping, baking or frying trick, or just be yourself (unless you suck), and I'll be happy.
I'm also full of useless, nerdy knowledge and quotes, but I try not to be annoying about it..until I meet someone else who loves Joss Whedon or George Martin.
