About Me

CURRENT MISSION

In September of 2021 I will be embarking on a year-long, solo bicycle tour of the United States and Canada. I will be bicycling most of the distance, but supplementing with some train travel for certain stretches. (I also love train travel!) I'm excited to see the land and vegetation, and also to connect with so many wonderful people, some of whom I already know, and many of whom I don't yet! I intend to stay two nights in most locations, so that I can rest my body for a day, enjoy the community I'm visiting, and connect with my hosts and/or other locals. I will be offering free coaching to hosts all along the way, which will probably take the informal form of having deep conversations about people's hopes, dreams, and possible projects for themselves and for the world.

I hope to meet you on the way!

ABOUT ME

Vegan, socially conscious, optimistic. Some of my passions are Nonviolent Communication, restorative justice, bicycling and train travel, and creative and visionary solutions to the world's problems.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect and empathy for all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this! My place is pretty small and my couch is very uncomfortable, so I'm not able to host very comfortably at present, but I hope to get a better couch and set my life up better in the near future so that I can host others. Meanwhile, I love the idea of connecting with like-minded folks in places where I will travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great so far!

Interests

NVC, vegan dining, restorative justice, bicycling, trains and transit, karaoke, visiting Japanese and botanical gardens, tree photography, supporting others to live their best lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a progressive rock nerd (do you like Marillion, IQ, Porcupine Tree, and their ilk?) I don't read much, but I do enjoy inspiring nonfiction. Same with movies: I rarely watch, but I enjoy inspiring documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helped to build a Japanese healing garden inside a maximum-security prison in Oregon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to listen to people talking about whatever is real for them. I also love to help people to get in touch with their dreams, and find ways to live them! I am happy to listen empathetically and/or help brainstorm or strategize any new ideas for people. I can also offer informal NVC coaching (I'm not certified, but I have years of experience practicing NVC, including a year of volunteer assistant teaching in a prison).

What I Can Share with Hosts

All of the above!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom
