About Me
THIS TRIP: Hey! Before you read my general bio, thought I'd include some information relevant to this trip. I'm taking the train from Chicago to Seattle in mid-August and need to be in San Fransisco for my flight home just after Labor day. Open to visiting/staying anywhere on the train between those two cities, but especially the following places- Seattle, Mt. Ranier National Park, Portland, Bend, Eugene, Redding, Sacramento, and San Fransisco.
I'm a 24 year old Chicago native. I graduated 2 years ago with a B.A. in International Relations and Politics from George Washington University in Washington, D.C..
While completing my degree, I lived in Maastricht, Netherlands for a year on exchange, studying at University College Maastricht. After I finished my Bachelor's, I decided to move down under to Melbourne, Australia. I picked up various odd jobs there, ultimately settling in a role with a non-profit doing research and data entry.
Since I've been back in the U.S., I've settled back into life in Chicago. I've worked as a barista, taken a 5 week trip to Japan, and learned how to be a web developer. I'm excited to see more of the continental U.S.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking to meet fellow travelers and share experiences. Additionally, it's an excellent way to meet some interesting local folks who might have some incredible tips and tricks I might not have been able to do had I not met them.
Interests
I'd love to do some hikes and nature walks on my trip, basically spend as much time outdoors as possible. Additionally, I'd love to see some local-live music, DIY spaces a plus! I like to cycle, love to take public transport (especially trains, shoutout to Amtrak). Big into coffee. I just bought my first analogue camera! A Minolta SRT 101. It's my baby.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm currently working my way through Karl Ove Knaussgard's ouevre "My Struggle" which has been challenging but a really rewarding read. I'm pretty open to all sorts of music, I've been getting more into noise, experimental, house, techno as of late. But really up for anything. Same with movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Five weeks hitchhiking around New Zealand.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a bit of a tadpole when it comes to web development, but happy to share my newly acquired skills. Additionally, if you yourself work in web development, I'd love to pick your brain.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Happy to share some food and drink with my hosts, as well as cook for you! I really like to have good chats, so you can expect some good banter from me. Current affairs, music, but really interested in what you have to say.
