About Me

Hi, I’m Margarida! I’m an adventurous and curious traveller who loves meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and sharing meaningful experiences. After spending over 20 years in the UK, I’ve developed an international mindset and a deep appreciation for diversity.

My passion lies in connecting with people, exchanging stories, and supporting social impact initiatives. I co-founded a social enterprise in Uganda, where I’ve worked on community-based projects focused on sustainability and women’s empowerment. I also engage in community-based tourism, believing that travel should be a meaningful exchange that benefits both visitors and local communities.

I love being challenged—whether it’s learning something new, navigating unfamiliar places, or pushing myself outside my comfort zone. I believe that challenges make us grow and open the door to incredible opportunities.

I’m also passionate about crafts as a tool for women's empowerment. I’ve seen firsthand how creative skills can provide independence and transform lives, and I love supporting and learning from artisan communities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that the best way to truly experience a place is through the people who live there. I love the idea of cultural exchange and forming friendships across borders. I see Couchsurfing as a chance to share, learn, and create unforgettable memories.
