About Me

Hey :) I'm Margarita, 29 years old from Beer-Sheva, Israel.

I'm a graduating Material Engineering bachelor student at Ben Gurion University in the Negev (a desert in the south of Israel).

I'm also a singer and musician, I sing in the University choir (alto) and play guitar and piano/ keyboard. I wrote my own stuff and preform sometimes.

I'm into all kinds of science stuff, especially material science, but also chemistry, physics and whatever I might stumble upon. I write articles about THC and CBD for a small website.

I participated in Burning Man in 2013 and now take part in a regional burn event called Midburn and other small burns and community events in my town.

I'm a carnivore and a bit of a foodie, my friends make fun of me all the time for overreacting to tasty things XD
Lately I'm into clean eating so I mostly cook hearty soups, chop colorful salads and make green smoothies. Yum!

This summer (August 26) I'm headed to Vancouver to start my master's in metrial engineering in UBC, so excited!

Because my contract (on campus) starts September 1st I'm looking for a host for these 5 days/ 5 nights.

I've been to Vancouver once before, in 2013, also visiting the Okanagan Valley, Nelson, Kaslo, and Vancouver Island. I had the most beautiful trip and kinda fell in love with the Canadian layed back atmosphere and kind additude. This heartfelt impression stayed with me and was one of the reasons I applied to Canadian universities for getting my master's, and I'm really happy and proud to have been admitted to UBC!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing can be a great way for me to immerse myself within the local vibe and texture, so I can experience the real feel of wherever I'm traveling to.
I met some amazing people through CS that I'm still in touch with. I probably would'nt be able to meet them and experience all the cool stuff we've done together if it wasn't for this community and platform.
Also, it's a good way to travel on a budget. Somtimes I travel to cities which are really expensive, and, being a student, my hosts help me save a lots of money. I can definitely say that there are some places I wouldn't even think of going to if I it wasn't for CS. Thank you, amazing people!

Interests

I enjoy playing old and new music on the guitar and keyboard. I write my own stuff and preform somtimes.

Also I'm into visual arts and draw sometimes or make things like Burn costumes.

Music, Movies, and Books

This last summer I read the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series and had a blast. I wonder if it'll ever be completed.
House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Rick and Morty ♥

I was enlightened by "Guns, Jerms and Steel" by Jared Diamond.

"Generation War" by Philipp Kadelbach is a powerfull mini series about a few friends from Germany during WW2. It was really interesting for me to see the german side of the tragedy, especially as an Israeli.
