Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I love any live music really, but especially folk festivals. I also love dancing and very few things make me as happy as a good rave!
Some of my favorite artists: Ani Difranco, The Lowest Pair, Modest Mouse, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Seyi Shay, El Morabba3, Crosby Stills & Nash...I also love Bollywood music.
Books:
I especially enjoy poetry, contemporary philosophy, and novels. Some of my recent favorites include Transpositions: On Nomadic Ethics (Rosi Braidotti), Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion (Gregory Boyle), God of Small Things (Arundhati Roy) and I'm on book four of Game of Thrones right now. Some of my favorite poets include Rumi, Robert Hass, and Emily Dickinson.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent the last year as a Thomas J. Watson fellow, traveling and researching the importance of intracommunity psychosocial support in strengthening social movements. Mostly I spent amazing time with incredible Syrian and Tibetan activists and Rwandan and Bolivian healers!
Also, I studied abroad in Amman, Jordan the spring of 2013, and stayed for the summer as well to do an internship in the north with a small women's cooperative. I adore Amman, and its my favorite place in the world! If you're going to travel to Jordan, hit me up for tips. I could happily talk about it for hours.
