About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The Singlehanded Circumnavigation of the Globe via the Five Great Capes

ABOUT ME

I am 5'8" tall, I was told I would have a growth spurt soon about four years ago...it never came. I have brown hair and blue eyes and can not refuse a good book. I love to laugh and a good pun is always welcome (I do fogive those of you who must tolerate this, haha!) If I'm not at home, I'm sailing aboard my beloved sloop, Argo. I will not turn down a good margarita and Jimmy Buffet is always welcome aboard my boat. I'm also never ever sick at sea (What never? Well, Hardly ever!)
I would suppose that on the whole I am antiwar. I find the needless loss of life dispicable, yet I still believe that one must stand for those who can not. I enjoy Eastern Philosophy especially the works of The Buddah.
I am a history major, my prime area of interest being Greek Antiquity and the Napoleonic Period, afterall there is only one Nelson!

PHILOSOPHY

"Never mind manoeuvres: go strait at 'em!"
-Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson
...Never a greater seaman will there be...

Interests

I love to sail! There is nothing that makes me feel more at home than the gentle sway of the deck under my feet and the taste of salt in the air. It is life in its very essence. If you need ask why I feel this way, I refer you to Herman Melville's Moby Dick, Chapter 1: Loomings. I read alot, my favorite books are Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey Maturin Novels. Classical literature is a favorite aswell and I am an avid student of History and a fan of Archaeology. I enjoy a good opera and listen to music of all types. I write often and a can play a song or two on the guitar.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music spans the gammot. I love The Who, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Otis Redding, John Coltrane, Beethoven, Luigi Boccherini, and Gilbert and Sullivan just to name a few. I am an avid fan of Virgil and Homer. The Epic of Gilgamesh is also a true jewel. Anything by Patrick O'Brien, I will read and for those young people contemplating a voyage, one can not go wrong with the works of Captain Joshua Slocum. The greatest movie ever made was The Man Who Would Be King.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have watched the sun set and the stars rise...Alone

Teach, Learn, Share

Find this composition, it is the most inspiring piece of music I have yet to hear:

Boccherini: La Musica Notturna Delle Strade Di Madrid No. 6, Op. 30
