CURRENT MISSION
Working as a French teacher in a local high school in Glasgow
ABOUT ME
In 2009, my friend and I set off on a 2 year long, 27.000 km bike ride from New Zealand back home to Glasgow(or, in my case, Hungary). It was unforgettable and the trip of a lifetime. If you are interested, you can read our blog from the trip: www.benandmargosworldcycle.blogspot.com. I also did a solo bike trip of 3000kms around Europe last summer: margoon2wheels.blogspot.com
PHILOSOPHY
You've got nothing in life if you can't share it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Enjoy giving and receiving hospitality and meeting amazing new people who enrich your life!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Ben and I used Couch Surfing so much during our trip and the experience was always positive. After several long days, or weeks, in the saddle, we would always look forward to our next CS house, where a warm welcome, hot bath and a comfy bed would be waiting for us. It really made the trip for us. We met so many inspirational people through CS and had so many fun times. Back in Glasgow, after the trip, I started receiving Couch Surfers as guests, which has always been a great experience. I also used CS a lot travelling in Europe this summer.
Interests
I am a keen cross country mountain biker and used to take part in the Scottish Cross country championships. I came 2nd overall in the Women's Masters 4 years ago and 2nd in the Sport category of the British Champs 5 years ago. I hope to get back into racing soon(mind you, I've been saying that for the past 3 years).
I love cycle touring and it is, for me, undoubtedly, the best way to see the world. Going from one tourist haven to another on a fast-moving bus or train, missing all the places inbetween, does nothing for me. The speed of a bike is perfect for travel: slow enough to take it all in and interact with people, but fast enough to cover a good distance everyday.
Off the saddle, I love camping, enjoying the beautiful Scottish countryside and weather(ahem) and the culture of my wonderful city of Glasgow.
