About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the world and its people.

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, open-minded, easy-going person who happens to live outside my home country and who is extremely interested about getting to know different people and cultures. Never enough of checking what life has to offer: travelling, meeting interesting people, drinking favourite beer with friends, watching good movie or enjoying a good book. I do enjoy intellectuals, but I enjoy less the boring ones! And I appreciate and use the sense of humour a lot. I do like to laugh on absurd and witty jokes or conversations. I like to exchange bizarre/funny/ strange life experiences. I can get crazy at times even though I seem to be down to earth! I will definitely enjoy a company of a person who has something interesting to say!
On the education side, I have a master's in international relations/politics and and 2nd one in Human Rights, Humanitarian Law and I am into the international criminal responsibility of some of the world's worst motherfuckers guilty of crimes against humanity and crimes of war! Discussions on those topics are more than welcome.

PHILOSOPHY

Your life, your choice.
Do not wait for the 'future' to bring you things, you create your future!
Being a bird in your life means you can open your wings and fly when the branch underneath you gets broken.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Travelling and hosting. Telling you what I know and cheering you up. Trying to get to know you, what knowledge you can pass to me as part of our exchange and what I can pass to you. Enriching each others culturally.

I can always recommend a good European food and drinks, advice on best places to visit and speak with you for whatever weird- intellectual - funny or sad topic you may like!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Being a host, being a guest. I have hosted and been hosted and had mostly great experiences with that. CS is a very good project to meet interesting people and boost your experience of a place you are visitng.

Interests

Travel, people, cultures, politics, Middle East, world in general, languages, blogging, books and constant self-improvement and knowledge broadening.

Music, Movies, and Books

Blow, Lord of War, 21 grams, Babel, Biutiful and Inarritu in general, Almodovar, Closer, Underground, No man's land. Recently I got to know Chinese cinema closer and it is really good! I am truly amazed by 'The Grandmaster' and Wan Kar wai in general. 'Farewell my concubine' is also a masterpiece of Chinese cinema. Besides I recommend the 'Night train', 'People mountain people sea', 'Kekexili Patrol' and more. Beware: you will enjoy Chinese cinema only if you have at least some interest in China, its history, politics and culture.
Of the TV series, I'm not a big fan but I liked to watch 'Dr House', 'My name is Earl' (crazy!) and 'How I met your mother'. Recently I saw an excellent series: 'True Detective' with Matthew McConaughey and 'The Tudors'. Netflix: 'Inside the world's toughest prisons'
"Thousand of splendid suns" by Khaled Hosseini is the book that I find really special to my heart. I like reading very much, I have been devouring books since very early age, nowadays my working life unfortunately makes it a bit more difficult to read a lot of books.
When it comes to music I believe that in every kind there is something good to discover.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Looking around from up the mountain or a hill.
Crossing the Taklamakan Desert, climbing up mountains in Kyrgystan, watching a night sky in the middle of nowhere, writing a blog etc.
In summer 2013 me and my at-a-time-boyfriend Alexis crossed China and Kyrghystan in a 2-month expedition on the Silk Road over there. If you are interested to know more about this exciting experience, you can read about it on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SilkRoadexpedition2013?ref=hl; otherwise I welcome you to check out my blog: http://margoanna.blogspot.be/
