I'm a junior at UC Santa Barbara studying hydrology, which is part of the Environmental Science department. I was born in the Bay Area but my family lived in Australia for most of my childhood, and now I've moved back to California for university. I like trees, gardening, cooking food I’ve grown, also cooking other food, sailing, hiking/backpacking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A) I'm a poor college student on a budget but I still want to travel and
B) I think couchsurfing is a much better way to visit a place than staying in a hostel, you can experience things you probably never would've without a local, and some people are so interesting or great its worth traveling just to meet them.
While my itinerant student lifestyle is not so great for hosting right now, I hope I'll be able to host in the future to give back and to meet cool people. And who knows, if you’re looking for a place to stay in IV you can still send a request, maybe my housemates will agree.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was part of the hitchhiking competition when I was on exchange, racing from The Hague to Budapest. My teammate and I didn't win but we finished in the top five and I met so many cool people. I'll definitely try long distance hitchhiking again.
