About Me

I am currently on a "surface travel" trip from Australia back to France through Southeast Asia, the Himalayas and Central Asia with my husband, Tim (34 yo, Australian). That means we are travelling by any means overland and overseas, but we are not flying.
We left Melbourne, Australia, mid-May 2024, and travelled along the Australian East coast by train before hopping on a sail boat to cross to Indonesia, where we arrived in Saumlaki. As of early August, we have been in Indonesia for 3 weeks, travelling by public ferries, trains and buses, enjoying the slow pace of our travel which allows us to immerse ourselves amongst locals and take in the beautiful scenery.

We love connecting with people and enjoy learning about history, culture, politics and society as well as tasting new food. We are happiest in the wild, amongst trees and flowers, exploring a mountain on foot or on skis, doing yoga surrounded by nature or reveling at the sight of colourful corals and fish.

Prior to this trip, we were both working on climate and energy policy, advocating for stronger and faster action to care for the planet. We have both travelled a fair bit prior to this trip and have lived in Australia, France and Canada.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that travelling is always best when you can meet and connect with locals, to understand how they live and think, learn from them and experience true local culture. Couchsurfing also allows travel to be an exchange of ideas, improving our understanding of other cultures, and also highlighting our shared humanity, that's the experience where after. We have both couchsurfed before and hosted couchsurfers, its always been a wonderful experience to meet new people and share fun activities.
I hope that once we settle back in France we will be able to host couchsurfers once again!
