Hi! My name is Maria. I am from Lisbon, Portugal. I love to travel and have gotten to go to many wonderful places. My first long term abroad experience was 4 years ago when I lived in Thailand for a year. Since then i have been looking for new opportunities to see the world and understand the people of it. Two years ago, I lived in Kenya for 6 months and then volunteered in an orphanage in Northern Thailand for another 6 months. This summer, I will be moving to San Francisco to explore this part of the world. It will be my first time in the US and i am very excited for the experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My family has been hosting people from all over the word for as long as I can remember. When a guest was over, my family would gather around at dinner to hear story after story from our guest about the wonders of their country and culture. I love the idea of being hosted and hosting people from all over the world to really give and get such a unique and genuine understanding of a culture.

My two friends that I met in Thailand and I will be taking a road trip along the Big Sur coastline to see the beauties of California.
