About Me

I work at a bookstore by day, and do crossword puzzles by night!
I love to laugh, and the feeling of a job well done.

I love otters, both sea and river. My desk at work is surrounded by otter figurines and photos.

In my spare time, I like to cook, bake, and pick up new skills. The latest has been whittling.

I'm by nature a bit chaotic, and disorganized, both mentally and environmentally. It's a blessing, since I'm easygoing and can handle unexpected situations well. A bit of a curse for obvious reasons, though. Since January, though, I've taken steps to become a neater person. My environment is so much more organized. My brain... well, we are working on that! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see as much of the world as I can, and I'd like to do that like a local whenever possible.

I'm also a big fan of gift economies and cooperative things in general, so this seems to fit well. (I participate often in my local Buy Nothing Project group. )

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I can be convinced to listen to almost anything, though I do gravitate towards things with a traditional/folk sound, as well as classic rock. (e.g.

Books: Love Wodehouse, Sherlock Holmes, and Agatha Christie. Always up for a good fantasy as well (Terry Pratchett, working on Lies of Locke Lamora).

I love Midsomer Murders, Stranger Things, and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got to meet otters at a local zoo! I fed them fish with tongs and got to see them up close with their trainer.

Teach, Learn, Share

As per my bio, I know a little about a lot of things. I wouldn't call myself expert at any of them, but I could teach what I do know... examples would be ukulele, knitting, cooking, baking, cheese making (mozzarella & soft cheeses mostly), hula-hooping, crossword puzzles, paper flowers ...

What I Can Share with Hosts

A quirky sense of humor, help around the house, trivia, and an overall easygoing attitude. I feel that I'm self-sufficient and low maintenance - I can adapt quickly and entertain myself if necessary.
