Just a couple of ladies and an Old English Sheepdog traveling... Ames and Maria are originally from the United States. Ames grew up in Wisconsin and Maria is from Los Angeles, California. We both taught in the public schools of New York (Brooklyn, Harlem and the Bronx). After teaching in the system for a number of years, we decided to live the dream and move to Europe— first living in Germany and then in Italy. Maria is a musician, Ames is an artist and designer, and Winston… Winston is a gourmand. But to make ends meet, we both work as teachers, translators and editors. Our interests include art, music, positive action for social justice, animal liberation, creating community, reading, traveling, exploring the great outdoors, natural building (i.e. cob), intentional communities, working on living outside of the cash economy-- and more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We would like to meet up with people who live all over. Meeting folks and making connections is what traveling is all about. We love getting to know people and getting to see new places with a "local" perspective.
