ABOUT ME

I am a Latin dance teacher and performer. I commit fully to whatever endeavor peaks my interest, but I love to learn more all the time. I love stupid humor and goofing around. Basically I can go from scholar to dork in about 2 seconds. I have been a sassy moody teenager, a College student in the city of sin- New Orleans, a funk DJ, a beachbum in Mexico where I learned about scorpions, mescal, ceviche, and espanol. I worked on yachts for nearly 3 years, travelling the east coast US and Caribbean, worked on Organic farms, apprenticed with an herbalist, waited tables, bartended, was an avid mountain biker, love to sail catamarans, took a whirlwind trip of Europe back in the 90's then again in 2009 with special focus on Spain, Morocco and Croatia, hiked part of the Appalachian trail.... I had a pretty big addiction to Cuba and have been about 5 times to study dance and to live it up in general. I am totally devoted to music and culture and usually I travel first and foremost to the countries where the music inspires me. I have lived in Asheville for over 10 years with a dance company and a home I purchased. I moved to Atlanta to challenge myself as a dancer at the start of 2011. I have been hosted by some wonderful Couchsurfers and look forward to paying the karma back when I get more settled into my Atlanta life....unless of course, I move to the beach next year! Come visit!

PHILOSOPHY

We live in a time where it's easy to be an explorer and to learn about faraway lands. However, I think we need to take care of the land where we live first and foremost and remember that the source of our existence is the earth. I believe we should participate in our local community and contribute something meaningful, even if it's minute. I generally see the things we all have in common before I notice our differences and I have a huge aversion to pretentious people...Personally, I enjoy knowing about another person's "flaws"...It makes them infinitely more interesting. Well, maybe that's b/c I have learned to accept my own! But don't worry, one flaw I do not possess is that of a inconsiderate guest!
