About Me
Hello!
I've been couch surfing a lot through a joint account with my friend who I cycle with through Europe and the UK every year. Venturing out on my own account when I’m not cycling with her. See my joint account with her here -- https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/aileen-wang?action=show&controller=user_profiles
I'm Japanese but have lived in the U.K. for about 10 years. I love being upside down and hanging from places so do a lot of acro-yoga and bouldering. Also love learning about gardening and foraging!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It all started with my friend & I cycling from Amsterdam to Berlin in 10 days, discovering the beautiful landscapes, culture and people of the Netherlands and Germany back in 2013. Since we were constantly on the move staying with locals and sharing stories over dinner/drink was the best way to learn about the culture and atmosphere of each place.
Since then, we've had the privilege to meet the most fantastic, generous people in the Netherlands, Germany, France and all over UK . I love the open minded people I meet on the way and feeling more connected to parts of the world through the mini friendships made through Couchsurfing. Currently I’m still a student living in a tiny flat but hopefully I can host people in the future!

Music, Movies, and Books
Love all sorts of music but currently particularly in love with west African music, Solange and Ibeyi, love reading anything by Kapuscinzki and other travel stories, and Italo Calvino. Most recent movie I watched was a Shoplifters by Kore-eda.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending 3.5 months in a very remote part of Zambia helping to complete a hospital . The nearest super market was 4 hours drive away so we had to do one BIG super market shop once a month. We saw the biggest sunsets and sunrises and the cockerals used to wake us up at 5 in the morning.
